Hi thares. I'm taking the SAT's in about 11 days (june2nd). Just wondering if there's an easy way to memorize about 60 words per day; I live in NYC so I study on the way to school and on my way home and stuff. is there a way to memorize vocabulary quickly so I can ace this thingamajig.

BTW, I use the Barron's Vocabulary/ Long list for 11 days, i knows. I want a 2300+

Try quizlet.com. You’ll need to make an account but it’s very helpful when it comes to memorizing vocabulary.

Make up your sentences that pertain to your life with the words. Or repeat the words & definitions to yourself, out loud, in an established rhythm. I don’t know how well this will work with 60 words, but it helps me memorize 20 in about 20-25ish minutes. Use the words in every day conversation if you don’t mind sounding a little dumb; it’s especially helpful if the person you’re talking to doesn’t know the word, that way you can teach them and inculcate yourself.

i like that idea. LOL. 60 words by tonight. better get started

It’s always challenging to cram a lot of words in a couple weeks, but there are quite a few options. A few ideas:

(1) Quizlet.com is a good online site - I second that nomination

(2) review all old tests you have done and look up any words you don’t know and make flash cards for them.

(3) try coming up with your own funny sentences for words that really give you trouble. Humor is a good learning tool.

(4) if you are an iPhone/ipod touch or iPad user - The Daily Word is an app designed to help you review your words while on the go, which sounds like something you like to do. It has a notecard creation system so you can make cards for any words you don’t know and a study center where you can review those words. With 10 days to go, you would want to just go right to the alphabetical list of words in the app and make cards for any words you don’t know. Then flip through those cards while on the move to help burn them into your brain for test day. :)

Good luck!

I also like the vocabulary cartoon books - but you may not feel that you have enough time for that route. Google vocabulary cartoon if it sounds like something you’d like.
