<p>I've taken both routes and don't believe there's too much difference. 9 is more direct but you spend a little more time in Pittsfield proper. Hancock Shaker Village is very close to the NY line on the far western edge of Pittsfield so if you take 9 you traverse the entire city east to west. With 91 you'll exit at Lee and take 20 north into Pittsfield. 20 then turns west towards the NY border and Hancock Shaker Village.</p>
