I recently overnighted at Wesleyan, and really liked the nonconformist, quirky, and liberal vibe that I got from it, so I was wondering what other similar schools are perceived to have this atmosphere. I'm not looking for somewhere as off-the-wall as Reed, but I dislike the jocky/preppy vibe I've gotten from places like Williams.

So far, my research suggests Oberlin and Vassar as being similarly quirky. Is this impression accurate/what schools am I missing?

You are correct about a similar vibe at Oberlin and Vassar. Oberlin is more down to earth than W or V with lots of midwestern and California students, while Vassar appeals to the Northeastern and other coastal hip but friendly student.

I have heard that quirky kids are totally welcome at Davidson and find their own solid niche with lots to do…but it is not a quirky vibe per se at all (just a small LAC where quirky kids seem to be quite happy once they find one another).

What about Colby? I know nothing about it but read a lot about their social justice beliefs and sometimes that lends itself to quirky kids. Grinnell??
If you are a female, then some women’s colleges are worth a look.

Brown is another one…if you can manage to get in. That seems to be an accomplishment of few nowadays at my school!
