Quitting a sport senior year

I have been wrestling since 7th grade and have always had an immense hatred for the sport. I have continued to do it, but now, as a senior, I am miserable trying to make it through the final year. I have no passion or enthusiasm towards it and it is certainly detrimental to my health (I eat 200 calories a day and make regular sauna trips, I actually passed out in one a few days ago). It aslo has significant impact on my schoolwork. While quitting the team would probably not be a deal breaker for college admissions, my common app essay is about my experience cutting weight and what it has taught me and I feel that I could also write a very strong response to the “Briefly describe one for your extracurricular activities” prompt. For it, I would talk about how we have had four wrestling coaches in six years and how the newest one has never wrestled before so I am literally coaching the team. So my question is, would sticking with wrestling be worth it thanks to the essay? Or would it perhaps be better to only keep with wrestling until after January and then quit?

No. Drop it.

Unless you are being recruited by colleges for wresting I’d quit either now or in January, whenever you feel is best for you.
