Are we supposed to discuss the quote, or incorporate it into the essay? I was planning on just putting it up top, like a title...I've looked at past threads and there didnt seem to be a definitive answer.

What is everyone else doing? By the way, I'm doing the "choose your own quote" essay.

The supplement/app says to put it at the top, so obviously that's what I would do. In case they are grammar sticklers, use "quotation" instead of "quote."

I guess the "quotation at the top" part is definite, but I was asking more about whether I can never refer to it explicitly in my essay. It says that it can be used as a "jumping off" point, so I hope that doesnt mean I need to explain the quote before I begin the essay...I'd much prefer just leaving it up top and not alluding to it at all.

I don't see a problem with that. Just make sure it's clear why that quotation, not another, is appropriate. It sounds like you have a great idea in mind!
