Quoth the raven, "Swarthmore?"

So I just sent my ED application to Swarthmore. Any ideas from the ever-wise citizens of College Confidential?

I'm also applying to:
Wellesley
Kenyon
Carleton
Hamilton
Bryn Mawr
SUNY Geneseo
Thoughts on those would also be appreciated.

I've had on-campus interviews at Swarthmore, Kenyon, and Bryn Mawr...I expect to have an on-campus interview at Hamilton and an alumna interview for Wellesley in the upcoming weeks.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

ahhh I love Swarthmore. I hope you get in. You sound like me! :) I think you will!

By way of a disclaimer, I have no real idea of whether you'll get in, you just sound like someone Swarthmore would value.

In at Geneseo, most likely serious scholarship money from them too.

Thanks! Any thoughts on Swarthmore financial aid? I've heard it's excellent, of course, which is why my parents (who aren't exactly loaded) are letting me apply ED...they did all their research and talked to a bunch of people and they told me if I really, really want to go, I can apply ED so, er, I did. I love the place.

Best of luck to you too, Undine!

I also forgot! I've had a job at an old folks' home, in the dining room, since last June.

Thanks colly! I'm actually a junior, so I've got a while to go:(

And btw as it stands I would apply ED, but I'm afraid of the financial situation, so I know where you're coming from.

Ugghh I know, the money...I'm glad my parents let me apply ED (if I get in it would be wonderful to know by Dec. 15) but I'm still a little concerned. It's nice, though, that Swarthmore has gone no-loan, though.
Well, Undine, I guess in a year you'll be doing all this crap too. (A year ago, I had never even heard of Swarthmore, but now I've visited twice and collected all the propaganda and I'm in love.)

Anyone have thoughts on how these things will affect me?
-Quitting Spanish
-Being employed
-Being both white, female, and middle-class. I mean how much more statistically boring can you get?
-Writing. I feel like it's something that really stands out about me and I wrote my Common App essay about it. I also sent the Creative Writing supplement. Will any supposed skill at writing be a boost?
-Taking AP Physics C (the Bryn Mawr interviewer was delighted to see that I was taking Phys C and Calc, haha)
-The second (and last) time I took the SAT, I raised my scores in every section (I went from 2140 to 2260, 1410 to 1490). Does this "look good"? I never studied for the SAT, as a rule...I retook it in hopes of raising my math and the other stuff also happened to go up. Obviously they don't know any of this, though.

I hope they don't look at it as clinically as that. I am also female, white, middle-class. Taking calc. (not physics C hahah) I just think they get a sense of who you are and what you can do, and it doesnt matter if you took a few years off spanish (although i think they really like it when you have a job)--it's all about who you are. I try to believe that. But I know come november i'll be going insane haha.

*btw all my laughs are at myself, fyi :)
