R&C for Pre-Med?

I got a 3 on AP Lit, and I'm just wondering what is a good R&C course that'll also fulfill pre-med requirements? Do med schools care much about what sort of English I took? I'm leaning towards an Asian english class or a gender & women's studies.

from what the premed advisors said at advising workshops, any class that satisfies the R&C reqs will most likeley be satisfactory for med school english reqs as well.

Take english R1A and R1B. I got a 5 on AP lit, but i still took them for medical school. They are the best classes i’ve had so far. <15 students in each classroom and the teachers are super nice. sign up now because they fill up fast

I’m gonna take asian american studies.

med school doesnt care what english class you take as long as you take a year of of it (the requirement depends on the school but most require a year of english). but remember that the number of the class has to be in increasing order. like for example, i took Asian American R2B. so my next english class has to be bigger than 2, like German R5A.

^^not necessarily: you can take german r5a and then german r5b. they dont necessarily have to increase.

^
yea thats what i did.

Or can I take them starting the second semester? also, on the college website there are some courses that satisfy both the first half and second half of the requirement. If I take those courses, does it mean I only have to take one semester of it or still need to take a full year>

you can start taking them the 2nd semester but most of the r5a’s and r2a’s courses are only offered only in fall semester.

If there are such classes that satisfy both the first half and the second half, then obviously if you take one of those, both halves of the requirement will be satisfied. That means the entire R&C requirement is satisfied, so you would not need to take a second R&C course.

do you have an example of a course that satisfies both A and B portions of the R&C requirement?

I personally don’t think there is such a thing…

yea i dont think any course satisfies both halves…

so, just for clarification, any r&c class in berkeley will pass for premed english requirements? Because I’m thinking of taking French R1A, how will med schools know it is an English class, not a French class? Also will it say French R1A on my transcript or something else?

Yes sir, it should be fine.
Transcript will say French R1A.
READING AND COMP

Thanks guys! I’m taking Asian and Southeast Asian Studies R5A, all my other choices were full XD. Anyone else taking it?
