Can anyone tell me about being an RA at OU? I've read that you need to take a class and that only two out of five applicants are accepted. Would making NMF be any advantage in the selection? What are the benefits of being an RA. Do you get free room and board or do you get paid?

There’s a small one credit class that RAs must take which is supposedly easy as hell. I don’t think NMF get a direct boost except that they’re the ones who tend to struggle the least with academics so that might make Housing more inclined to take them on. I’m living in an upperclassman dorm this semester and none of the RAs I’ve met are NMFs although two were in the honors college. Later today I’ll ask my own about the selection process and perks associated with the position.

Also keep in mind that all years are eligible to apply for RA which substantially increases the competition (not that getting an RA position is easy at any school I’m familiar with).
