My daughter is african american and I wanted to know if there are any racial issues at this school? How diverse is the school? Any information is greatly appreciated.
I can’t speak from personal experience (I’m a rising freshman AND white, so I really don’t have any opinion/perspective here), but I can offer some numbers and facts.
UD’s total undergrad population is 17,575 students as of 2015. Of these, only 5.3% (926) students were African-American, behind Hispanic (7.4%) and White (74.8%). [ https://sites.udel.edu/ire/files/2015/12/21-ugdiversity-o55dx6.pdf ]
UD has multiple multicultural RSOs, including the Center for Black Culture and the Delaware African Student Association. [ https://studentcentral.udel.edu/organization/cbc and https://studentcentral.udel.edu/organization/delawareafricanstudentassociation ]
I also know the Honors program at UD has its own multicultural organization, but I forget the name of it. Sorry 
You may want to try looking at a website called ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■, now called niche.com website. they have user generated input onf all aspects of college life and academics for most colleges. Whether the input is accurate or not is another question (like most user generated sites, if there isn’t enough information it’s usually suspect…but it’s a data point…another thought it to see if there is a predominantly minority greek org on campus, maybe you can contact them and get some input? Sorry could not help…good luck!
