Racial tensions surrounding Oxford College (Emory University)?

@Mylillife If you are so sure of Emory’s/Oxford’s racism, Why are you asking questions you know the answer to? If you were this concerned maybe you shouldn’t have applied, “prestige” isn’t worth mistreatment and weakens your stance in several ways.
As I said Microaggressions and acts of racism are EVERYWHERE, so one can surmise that since a POC experiences some form of micro-aggression EVERYWHERE, one would only make a complaint if one felt that said micro-aggression crosses a line or became too frequent that is couldn’t be dealt with or tolerated. If this is the case that presents itself on a University campus one of two things would happen, racial tensions would make headlines (see Mizzou) or their would be high transfer rates ( One can surmise that if a student can get into Emory they can transfer into another equitable University). As I said Emory is a liberal campus, the most liberal and diverse in the south. Even if you went to an HBCU (like Howard and the like) you will have to deal with a host of other issues like xenophobia/ethnic tension, Colorism, Class division, Antiquity, and Seniority. For what its worth Racial and religious tension is mild to non-existent depending on the day at Emory, I don’t know about Oxford…
With all of that said…Here is the leader of the black student alliance at Oxford.

As I suggested, Binghamton is a great school, seems like you will be more comfortable there.

@VANDEMORY1342 : I don’t get this person, but I wouldn’t go there with the Oxford admit vs. Emory admit thing. Who knows if they applied to main. And who knows how each campus selects now-a-days. The only thing we do know is that main prefers a higher GPA, but SAT differences are irrelevant. Oxford could choose based on fit, same as Emory. Humility is not necessarily needed because of an admissions decision. Many deserving and qualified people will be denied. Period. I know we like to think otherwise, but admits were not necessarily more qualified than many or even most denied applicants.

@bernie12 Trust me if you were Black and lived life in the Black Experience you would understand. As I said before this question was really for POC at Oxford now or people who can refer me to them. And yes I’m assuming that you are not Black because of the way you answered my question. If you were Black you would understand that the question that I asked would normally get responses like yours. Just plain rude. Thank you for proving my point. Bye now.
