Hey, so I think i'm at around a 30 on the ACT, and I was wondering what I should do to get from a 30 to a 33 or more. Thank you so much

You should take a practice test and see what you do wrong. Learn from your mistakes :)

Ok. Any specific books I should be using. I have Barron’s and the Red Book.

I would say… use the big red book, but any/both is fine. Just go through a practice test and see what you did wrong. In math, definitely find how what you did wrong, and find out how to solve it in the future.

Oh, and if there is something really effective that I can do at school or while learning. that would be awesome, because i’m pretty busy all the time.

I had the Red Book and only did practice tests on my first ACT. Got a 30. Did the PR book (didn’t necessarily follow all of their strategies but the practice and reviews were so helpful) and I just took the April ACT and KNOW I improved greatly. Not like a 36 or anything lol. But I recommend getting the Princeton Review Book. Also as others have said take practice tests and review wrong answers, make sure you understand why you got the problems wrong.

Okay, i’ll try reviewing my answers. that’s a good idea. i think i’m going to do that. Thanks. Does anyone have any input on how hard the barron’s ACT is…I feel like it’s really hard, but I don’t know HOW hard.

The first time I took the ACT, I just went through the red book and did all the practice tests, and for the 2nd time, I reviewed stuff from the red book and bought a copy of Barron’s. I think that Barron’s helps–I don’t know about Princeton Review–but only if you can stay focused. Even though it has a lot of extra stuff, especially for math, it’s still up to you what exactly you want to study.

But yeah, I agree that it’s really hard. But I actually think the red book’s science is too easy. On avg, (for composite) I scored like 7 points less on Barron’s than on the Real Act Prep Guide.

Review the ones you got wrong AND the ones you weren’t sure about but still got right! This is really important. But really, I think for 33+, you just need to be really focused the day of the test, and not make too many silly mistakes.

Ok. Thanks for the advice. I agree. i think I just need to focus and do my very best.
7 points? really? dang. I got like a 28 on the practice. life’s good. haha
