Raising GPA from 2.64 to 3.0 in core classes by graduation...is it possible?

Trying figure out if my son can raise his core GPA from 2.64 to 3.0 to qualify for Bright Futures Scholarship by graduation?

His stats from 1st Semester are:

AICE Marine Science C
AICE Math l D
AICE ENG LIT B
US GOVT HON/ECON FIN LIT HON B

His current grades are:

AICE MARINE SCIENCE A
AICE MATH l D
AICE ENG LIT A
US GOVT HON/ECON FIN LIT HON C

I called Bright Futures and they told me he could earn a 3.0. If so, what grades would he need to average in with his first semester grades to achieve this? He has the potential to earn the AICE DIploma which would fund 4 years at a public university, if he passes his 4 exams. He has already passed 2 exams from last year. In case he does not pass his AICE Diploma exams…I’m looking at plan B with Bright Futures. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks in advance!

Does he have the other requirements for Bright Futures? An ACT score of 26? 2 years of a foreign language? Community service hours?

You also need to understand that BF doesn’t pay for everything. If he gets the lower award (with the 3.0 gpa), it is only $77 per credit hour, and at most schools that won’t cover half the tuition.

Yes, he does have the 26 ACT and he has close to 100 hours of Community Service. Yes, I also know about the lower award amount…but he would still need a 3.0 gpa to qualify. Praying that he passes his exams!!! Yikes
