Raising GPA in Junior year

Hi, I'm a high school sophmore who has defined lazy the past few years, and allowed my self to end up with a 3.1 UW at the end of this year, which may rise after the 4th quarter, but only by a little. I am taking 2 course-recovery semesters from middle school and AP Macro-economics this summer, and I know I can get A's in all of them. I know that most of you will be skeptical of my ability to do this, as well as get straight A's in 4 AP's next year, however I know that I can if I just get out of my lazy, procrastination filled slump. I'm wondering how much the summer classes and junior year A's will be able to raise my GPA, realistically.
Thanks

I should also mention that I will be taking 1 or 2 AP courses next summer as well, so take at least 1 into account.

Hey, i’m doing the same thing. See if you can take some online classes through your local community college. In my experience, they have been pretty laid back with a chapter or two per week, discussions, and then a quiz or a test at the end of the week. They are typically not hard but make sure you stay on top of them though or they could be the death of you. Best of luck!

That doesn’t matter. Are you suggesting that if it doesn’t raise it enough you’ll just quit an be lazy again?

Get As from now on. That’s the best you can do and you’ll get the best possible gpa.

Worrying about it not being enough now would only convince you that the hard work is not worth it.

Of course I’m going to do it anyway, I have to. I was just wondering how much good it will do if I succeed. I want to know what is within my reach, realistically.

oh i’m in similar situation as you…
my freshman/sophomore GPA was 3.3 and now it’s 3.46 with “improving” grades.
So far in Junior year I got straight A for my 1st semester which includes AP microeconomics. I struggled through AP calc, hopefully I’ll leave it with at least B+…
Study hard though, I regret a lot.

Realistically, we can’t tell you, because we don’t know your school’s policy about grades for summer classes. Do the grades transfer in, and get figured into your GPA? They don’t at my kids’ school. Credits transfer in, but *grades *do not. That, as I said, is how it works at my kids’ school. You need to find out how it works at your school.

And we also don’t know your school’s policy on weighting grades for AP classes, so we can’t really answer that question, either.

On the other hand, if you know your grades from 9th and 10th grades, and you find out your school’s policies on summer-school grades and quality points for GPA, you can answer the question yourself, can’t you? You just have to do a weighted average. It’s eighth-grade math.
