Random Questions

Rando question- We have both an amazon prime account and an Amazon Business account. I don’t think I’ve ever used the business account. is anything cheaper there? I haven’t paid anything so I doubt I get 2 day shipping, so maybe that will keep some prices down? Does anyone have/use an amazon business account? Thoughts?

I have Amazon prime and Amazon business. I haven’t compared pricing, but some items on business aren’t available on regular amazon: dental supplies and small instruments.

I decided to use business to keep my business purchases separate from personal use once I got prime. Took a lot of time to keep invoices and separate them out monthly, even though I use different credit cards.

On the Amazon Prime topic … how hard is it to cancel? Normally I am fine waiting for free shipping, but the other day I considered joining to get a gift card used before vacation (and didn’t want package coming while gone).

Also… has anybody tried doing Amazon returns at Kohls? - https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2019/07/08/kohls-stores-now-accepting-amazon-returns-no-box-required/1629966001/

You can easily cancel Amazon Prime at anytime and they will refund the prorated balance.

I returned something to Kohl’s the other day. It was relatively easy, although I had to wait behind a problem customer for a little longer than I would have liked. But the return itself was simple. And they gave me a coupon for 25% off my entire purchase at Kohl’s in return. I had never been in a Kohl’s before, so I wandered around for about 20 minutes. Interestingly, nothing on display was full price – it was all at least 20% off, often more – and there was absolutely nothing I felt the need to buy.

I just tried it last month. It was very easy. There was a special Amazon return desk set up separately from the regular customer service area. I had to show them a QR code on my phone that Amazon had sent me prior. They scanned it, took my return and handed me a 25% off coupon that was good for about a week.

My friend returns to Kohls all the time and finds it super convenient and easy.

It’s super easy at Kohl’s. The one by me is actually busy with lines of people

When Kohl’s first opened years ago here I shopped there quite a bit. The kids were young and it was good for clothes and some home items, shoes, etc. Don’t shop there anymore we all became a little more fussy about what we were or just grew out of their styling. BUT the returns lines seemed a little long and SLOW back then…I’m wondering if this move by Kohl’s is to increase business…because they have seen a decline in business??? That’s a pretty smart way to get people in the store. (even though many like @VeryHappy may see no items they want to purchase)

yes, @abasket, IIRC (we discussed this somewhere on cc) Kohl’s was pretty open about the fact that they saw this as a way to get more people in the door.

H got an email from Social Security reminding him to look at his yearly statement online, so we went and looked. They had the wrong amount listed as his 2018 income, it was too high by about 2.5 times. We looked at the IRS page know the IRS has the right amount listed as 2018 wages.

We went to the SSA office to get it fixed today and took last years tax papers to prove it. He said that someone had used H’s SS # for self employment wages.

How could the SSA have that additional income listed but not the IRS? The IRS is the one that provides the info to the SSA. The SSA worker didn’t know. We have confirmed that we have credit freezes up for just in case.

WOW!

Oh, no! Now what do you have to do?

The SSA agent just said that we may need to come in every year to fix it and to keep an eye on our credit reports. So, we made sure the credit was frozen. We just bought a car and don’t need any more credit cards, so our credit may remain frozen for several years.

I just don’t know how or why the SSA has a different income than the IRS has for us? Don’t they get their numbers from the IRS?

What a headache!

SSA may just have processed faster.

Does anyone here have a blog? Do you like it? Would you recommend trying it? Is it personal or do you share with the world?
I was thinking of starting one for a new phase in my life. I already have an instagram with photo documentation and fun with the kids and friends.

@rockymtnhigh2 . I have a periodic blog. I activate one for our trips because I don’t do facebook. So it is a way to let people know what we are doing and see a few photos, without having to mass email family and friends. If you have instagram, I think that is what my blog might fall into. But it is not locked down at all except I disable comments. Anyone can see it that can find it (but I don’t know how they find it, maybe by town/hotel combinations).
Do you have some particular topic you want to share or blog about? That could open up a whole new world of friends I’d think, if there was a topic connection.

Topics might be grandparent/retirement. I started my instagram (set on private) when we retired and have been documenting by photos our travels.

My blog is… Facebook
