Great advice from @Knowsstuff. Also want to add that we’ve bought phones from Costco (along with Best Buy and directly from Verizon) which runs specials periodically.

Back to the topic of pesto, this is the one made. Like I mentioned upthread, I toasted the pecans first. So good!

I’ve always used 100% basil like the recipe posted by @JustaMom5465 , but one mentioned upthread uses some parsley. Does that make it not oxidize and turn brown?

I think adding lemon juice is worth trying but might really change the taste…

Lobster tails: best steamed, broiled, or grilled?

@MaineLonghorn, maybe you know?

Is the choice only lobster tails? I think whole lobsters are best because they are sealed in their own container - the shell - for cooking, and for whole lobsters, steaming is best.

In general, I’d lean toward steaming as it’s the most gentle and keeps the meat from drying out. IMO, lobster needs little adornment. Let the lobster shine through with some melted butter and maybe a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

Or poached in butter.

Another vote for steaming. Whole if an option. Tip - cut the rubber bands off the claws before submerging the lobster.

Yet another vote for steamed

Boiling is good too, although the screams when you drop them in the boiling water freak some people out.

Yeah, tails is the only option-DH already bought them! It’s for my birthday dinner. Got some tails, a filet mignon, and some good champagne. Since we can’t go out, he wanted me to have something special.

I have an electric steamer, so steamed it will be! He got some Irish butter, so I will be sure to use it liberally.

Thanks for the input!

No can do. I would freak.

Ok, they don’t really scream, I made that up. They are essentially giant bugs, I don’t think they have an advanced enough nervous system to feel pain.

@Nrdsb4 Sounds like a wonderful feast! Enjoy and Happy Birthday!

Lol.

I don’t eat lobster, but if I did, this would stop me from ever trying them at home: https://youtu.be/iLBL-XeNrRI

Well, if everyone had to kill everything they ate, there would be a heck of a lot more vegetarians. Lobsters are easy vs. a cow, pig, lamb…

I was glad to get the clarification about the screaming lobsters, lol

And, yes, I bet I’d be a vegetarian if I had to kill what I ate. And I love meat, chicken and fish.

On that note, I prefer hot lobster rolls, with butter, over cold ones. Nice dinner, Nrdsb4.

Unless you’re buying frozen Florida lobster tails (you don’t cook Florida lobster whole). Grilled with garlic butter. YUM!!!

Someone left an orange popsicle to melt on my kitchen island - it’s butcher block. It’s left a faint orange stain, any suggestions on a quick way to get it out?
