If there’s no inaugural ball, what dress will they put in the Smithsonian? The embroidered cream dress and coat with matching mask that Dr. Biden wore tonight?
yes ?
Seeing the description, I am also thinking yes:
Dr. Biden’s double-breasted jacket was made of cashmere, while her silk wool cady dress featured embroidery reflecting the federal flowers from every state and territory of the United States of America, according to a press release from the designer.
I really liked her dress and coat. Loved the embroidery.
Why oh why do I google with specifics and get back the most random, unrelated info? I know the usual tricks. Eg,
“John T Lastname” “City Name and state”
I get back people located way outside that state or city. Mismatched names. I’ve searched a specific job title, employer, even street- and it’s so random.
Now you know how credit reporting companies end up believing that two different people are the same person and combining their credit histories.
Sorry, but I cannot find the post today about getting covid after taking all precautions traveling but probably got in an airport setting? I wanted to share it with H.
@rockymtnhigh2 Are you referring to my post on the “what are your thoughts about travel” thread? IF so, I don’t know how to link it here, but it was post # 2501. Or you can PM me w/ questions.
I’m looking for a thread on HS Class of 2020 College Admissions decisions, any suggestions? Hoping to find one where people posted the list of schools and the decision for each school. Thanks!
My kids introduced me to Dry Bar Comedy a week or two ago - not sure if I’m the last person on the planet to know it existed or if others might be interested too. It’s essentially clean comedy. We watch it from YouTube. As with any comedy, some are better than others, but most we’ve enjoyed. Lengths vary so we can pick one (or more) to fit the time we have to watch.
Lately, it’s provided a lot of good laughs with our meals - dinner theater at home!
We’ve watched and enjoyed several of the Dry Bar Comedy shows. Then I got distracted by Discovery+. Lately, it’s been either house remodeling/building or zoos.
We’ve caught up with most of the HGVT content that we missed after dropping cable. Does anyone know if they’re making new shows? I saw a few episodes in which masks were worn sometimes and some conversations were conducted via video chat, but they’re rare.
At one point, we even tried watching the flip show in Chicago, but H quickly tired of the drama. We both miss “This Old House.”
This Old House is still on the air.
I didn’t know that, thanks. Will have to see if we can watch it on the pbs website. We have Discovery+, Disney+ and Amazon Prime video/Fire stick for the TV.
Hoping someone can shed light on this: I have a separate Fb account for the area where we’re going to retire and it’s tied to an email address that’s not used for anything else. I also clear cookies frequently, as in multiple times per day, with every box ticked to clear everything from the dawn of time.
Recently, while on the separate Fb account I clicked on a post by a store to check the country of origin of a new product. I then exited Fb, cleared cookies, and a short while later closed the browser. The next morning, I had an email from the store, in my shopping email account which I’ve used to order from them, referencing my visit to their site and encouraging me to buy the item I’d seen on Fb.
Is there some other way to get rid of persistent cookies? Thanks.
That is not cookies, but Facebook internally tracking that you clicked an ad by that store, and perhaps the store buying access to your email address from Facebook. So cookies do not matter.
Login to Facebook, go to the Settings, go through all of the settings to change all of the possibly ad-related ones (and perhaps others if you want) to the most private setting possible.
Facebook has way more insidious ways of tracking you than just cookies. For example, whenever you see Facebook button on a web page, there is code behind it that reports back to Facebook, even if you don’t click on it and aren’t logged into Facebook.
There are browser add-ons you can get that can help with these tracking buttons or to help with browser fingerprinting or whatever, but it’s a losing battle.
If you do all your browsing in an incognito or private window it can help, and some browsers have settings that let you opt out of tracking, but that requires the web site to honor it, which not all will.
Worse yet even if you delete your account completely FB still has all your info saved.
Thanks. I thought I’d taken care of privacy settings at the start, but it’s a good idea to check on them.
I didn’t realize that even if I don’t click on the Fb button that I’d be tracked. That’s annoying. I’ve tried tighter privacy settings and opting out of tracking, but too many sites won’t operate properly.
I’d love to leave Fb altogether, but it’s the only way most relatives communicate any more. Fb and Nextdoor are the main ways our neighbors communicate, too.
We’re watching America In Color now with FIL. He’s really enjoying it and it’s very interesting listening to his own memories as they get dusted off. He was born in 1928, so we started with the 30s and 40s.
If anyone else has an older parent or friend, maybe they’d love reminiscing too.
