Hmmm. I hope there is another option, as I don’t know if we can move the modem, and the phone base station and answering machine would not function well in the basement closet :frowning:

Does anyone know how to get the smell out of an electric steamer? I steamed shrimp seasoned with Old Bay last night. I’ve washed it out thoroughly (as much as you can an electric appliance), but it still has a very strong odor of the shrimp.

This thing has been with me for so long, I don’t remember even when I bought it. Maybe it’s even an old wedding gift, not sure. But I’m going to have to throw it out if I can’t solve this problem.

Did you try vinegar?

^^^^no, but that did occur to me. I’ll give it a try.

Or baking soda? An open box is supposed to be good for refrigerator smells. Also you can try lemon slices - they’re good for garbage disposal smells. Maybe steam some?

White vinegar or lemons and or baking soda all tend to be great at helping get rid of smalls.

I squeezed the juice of all the lemons and limes I had in the house into the tray, filled the water to the max line, and re-steamed it for 30 minutes. I poured out all the water, rewashed everything with soapy water, rinsed and wiped dry. I THINK that took care of it.

Is this the best home listing or what?

“This house is not meant for everyone. Nope. It’s for very special people. The kind of people who believe that unicorns exist. …”

Wow, complete with a singing ghost who MAY help with cooking, or not and a water supply. How can it still be on the market?

@doschicos, how in the world did you stumble across that one?

Someone had it posted on Facebook, @VeryHappy. The viral RE listing.

Question about Facebook:

I have a friend who posts a lot on Facebook. I don’t mind seeing her stuff on my feed. But every time she posts, I get an email notification. Every time someone comments on her posts, I get an email. How do I turn this off? I DO want email notifications when my Ds post, but not anyone else.

Go to their Facebook profile. Where it says “✓ Friends ▽” hover over it until a menu appears underneath it. If “Get Notifications” is checked, uncheck it and see if that helps.

If the problem is getting emails about notifications (whether these or other notifications in generals), you can adjust your notifications by going to the top right-hand corner of your Facebook homescreen (or any other screen), clicking the ▽, then Settings at the bottom of the menu, then Notifications to the left of the page that appears. From there, you can change your Email settings to include or exclude different types of notifications.

Go on their page. Where is says “friends” change it to “acquaintance” and you’ll get fewer of their updates. You can also change the “following” to “unfollow”. But you will still be friends. Just I believe won’t get their updates.

I only get notifications from those I have designated “close friends”, so jym626’s solution (making your friend an acquaintance) is probably the best solution. Though designating just a few people as “close friends” is probably easier than designating a lot of people as acquaintances.

Another solution — if you use gmail you can filter out the emails you don’t want to see (i.e. those from your friend) and have them automatically deleted or archived instead of landing in your inbox.

Another alternative, I use a completely separate (and useless) email address for my Facebook account. I haven’t checked that email account in…Years, I think. I don’t even think I know what the password is.

Except she does want the email notification from her daughter – so that won’t work.

I did that. I think that may have taken care of it! Thanks very much.

I don’t want to un-follow my friend; I like seeing her posts on my feed. I just didn’t need the emails when she posts-and especially don’t need the emails when her (many) other friends respond to her posts.

Wow–just learned that our primary bank has a separate and different internal routing number for deposits. I’ve had our account there for decades and this was the first time I noticed and asked! The CSR who spoke with me on the phone was a bit puzzled but called me back to confirm that it indeed the bank’s internal routing number for deposits only! Obviously I need to be more attentive and less on auto-pilot!
