S1 looked up his credit score on one of the three major agencies. It was 770. When he got to the car dealer, a few days later, they looked it up and showed him it was 690. He was really annoyed because they gave him a higher APR than he anticipated. What would cause a credit rating to fluctuate so much in just a few days??
Was it from the same credit agency? Was the number he got the actual number they use? Don’t they sometimes put a disclaimer that it’s not the same number? especially with the free ones that come with a credit card. Speaking of those, I don’t think they are updated daily.
Did he charge something on his credit card? A high balance on one day vs another may make it fluctuate.
No, they are not updated daily plus there are many different models for determining a credit score. I check mine and my husband’s very frequently on a couple of the free sites and they definitely move around and the various agencies don’t match. I don’t see swings as big as 80 points, but your son may not have a lot of different factors to consider. The timing of when they look at the balance on a relatively young credit card could account for the variance.
I think it’s always best to search for your own best financing and negotiate the best price you can on the car without financing. Then, at the dealership, if they can offer you better financing, you can take it but you’re not maneuvered into something without feeling like you have no other options.
Random question: I read that Green Mountain makes the Kirkland brand Pacific Bold coffee (which I really like). Anyone know which is the green mountain labeled equivalent of this coffee? Just curious. Love the Costco price so not looking to buy the other- just wondered.
So like many of us, as I’ve aged, I’ve needed to wear reading glasses. Through the years the strength has gotten more and more. I now wear 2.75.
I was just trying to thread a needle, and darned if they haven’t made those things sooooooo much smaller than when I was younger! So in order to thread it, I put on two pairs of 2.75s. Much much better, and I could see as if I were 10 years old again.
Just out of curiosity, what is the strength of two 2.75s together? Is it (2 X 2.75), or is it something else?
@VeryHappy , I have no idea with glasses, but with microscopes you multiply the ocular lens by the objective lens. If it’s 10x at the eyepiece and 4x on the low power objective, you have 40x. So maybe 2.75 squared?
@dragonmom: But in your example, you didn’t cube the numbers but you just performed a plain multiplication – 10 X 4 = 40. So wouldn’t I be seeing at 2.75 x 2 = 5.5??? Thanks.
I’ve seen a suggestion online that it is similar to GMC Dark Magic. It is very difficult to find info about anything that is NOT a K-cup, for some reason.
Elsewhere they say that GMC developed new blends for Kirkland.
I happen to have some Dark Magic and the Kirkland Pacific bold. Tried to do a comparison. I think , and I am not good at this, the Dark Magic was a little more bitter. But who knows. It may well be a separate blend as you said.
