Here are just some I know the answers to:

Well I know that 1 point is equivalent to around $1.26

4-5 classes

Corridor-style do not have common rooms, but suite-style do

Hopefully ASAP, but in a letter I received recently they said that some students could be living in temporary housing for Fall '08-Spring '09

thank you!

for question 7 i meant do corridor style having a recreational room or a big room used as a hangout spot within the quad building? and is there a study hall/room also within the quad building?

We don't have a core, we've got distribution requirements (look up the DECs in the undergraduate bulletin). Depending on your major there may be courses you really need to do freshman year, everyone's required to take a 1 credit seminar in their undergraduate college each semester of frosh year, and it's probably best to do your writing course as a freshman, but that's not a core in my mind.

You can pick professors if their section is available.

A point is worth a dollar, but you pay more than a dollar for it (how much more depends on what meal plan you have). Yep, it sucks, but at least the food is usually decent.

Not a comp-sci major, but my friends in it do have a lot of work. Depends on whether you really like it, I guess... comp-sci is one of those majors that has more people declare it as freshmen than end up graduating with it.

Depends on your major and personal preferences. Anywhere from 4 to 6 or 7 courses could be a normal full load. The least I've ever taken was 4, the most was 9 (which was insane).

3 per week (MWF) blocks are 55 minutes long. 2 per week blocks (T Th, MW, or MF) are 80 minutes long. There are also some once per week classes that are 3 hours, and labs can be anywhere from 2 hours to a lot longer than that.

Number of people per floor depends on the quad; the hall layouts vary. Corridor style buildings used to have common rooms on each floor, but because housing is so crowded the common rooms now have people permanently living in them like regular bedrooms. There are still lounges in the lobby of every building and quiet study rooms, though.

Some people's third roommates never even show up, some people get detripled right after the housing freeze ends, and some people stay tripled right on into the spring. I think all the triples get told where they are on the detripling waiting list once the housing freeze is over, so you'll at least have a vague idea where you stand priority-wise.

Your roommates (at least initially) will be freshmen, but the other people on your hall will include all classes. In suite style, one room per suite is designated for freshmen. You can't have too many triples in one place--think about bathroom capacity!
