Today, I won the Williams Book Award in school. Does this have anything to do with anything? I know, for example, the Harvard and Yale book awards don't provide a boost for admissions, and I was wondering if the Williams Book Award is similar. In fact, if its job is to market the name of the college, it did a good job. Now, I'm actually researching them. haha. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

probably not, aside from the fact that it shows you’re a strong student.

I agree with Pawn_H7: neither I nor the other student accepted/attending Williams from my school got this award, and the girl who got it either didn’t apply or didn’t get in.

I’d say it’s an indicator that you’re certainly competitive, but it probably won’t help you in admission in any way except to confirm your academic excellence.

My son won the Williams Book Award at this time last year and will be starting there this September. I do not think that it helped him get admitted. At his school, local alumni are involved in the selection of the student and they may have been aware of his prior interest in the school. Except for Yale, none of the other book award winners matched up with the school they are ending up attending. Did you get a purple dictionary?
