helloo,
ok so i received the rutgers book award today and i was wodnering if that would look good on an application or decrease my chances of admition because it's not a prestigious university?
pleasee let me knoww

admition? haha...oh, wow...

you can't spell admission and you want to know if an AWARD will decrease your chances?
oh lord.

The "book award" is a commonly asked question. Search this site and you'll see the responses. It's basically PR work by the awarding college. Sometimes it's PR work by the college's local alumni club.

Not too many Rutgers Book awards given at the rural or inner-city HS. Why? Because it's not worth sustaining a relationship w/schools that aren't likely feeders for potential applicants.

You can list it but it's as prestigious as Who's Who in American High schools.

It was given to you because the deciding members (principals, dept heads, etc.) wanted to recognize you. Would it hurt your chances? You're looking down on Rutgers? Ehhh -- maybe check the arrogance scale.

It's probably a little better than Who's Who, which I think you just pay for. Book awards are for PR, but your school faculty also had to choose you as a recipient. Although it's not such a HUGE deal, it does say that you are one of the top students in your class... perhaps. But again, I would like to emphasize that it's probably just for PR purposes.

lol i didnt mean to sound obnoxious =/
and admission, i knew there was something wrong.

anyway, thanks for the info.
