Rank the 8 Ivys in terms of Campus Beauty

“Among the wors[t] in the Ivies” is perfectly consistent with “among the nicest anywhere in the world”.

So JohnAdams12, I am directly addressing the nonsense remarks that you are making, while avoiding your value judgments on my value judgments, in case you hadn’t noticed.

So let’s recapitulate.

You previously asked why I read the thread. I answered that I read it to find out its content. You seem to be claiming that all you need to do to find out the thread’s content is read its title. I am contending that your claim is absurd. And it is absurd because all the information in a thread (in this thread, at least) is not reducible to its title. Does the title tell you that someone considered Harvard to be the most beautiful campus? No, it doesn’t. The thread contains more information than its title, and that is why I read it. I have just answered your question while showing how both your question and your subsequent remarks on the question are nonsense.

No, I don’t. The person who does sound ridiculous (and perhaps also childish) to me is you.

This is a value judgment with a childish provocative tone. I am not going to answer questions like this.

No, I will not take a look. It is childish to tell people what to do, especially with your tone. It is also childish to make unsubstantiated and poorly defined claims like ‘the other threads’ and ‘virtually NONE’. And no, your lame attempt at proving a point by suggesting to ‘look at other threads’ does not tell me anything. By the way, I can gather information on my own, but thanks for your ‘valuable’ advice, once again.

That is your opinion. It has already been noted. Are you now trying to convince people that your opinion is objective? Are you trying to use this thread and ‘the other threads’ as evidence to prove the answer of a subjective question? I certainly hope you aren’t.

You don’t want to hear a person disagreeing with your opinion? Does it make you angry that someone calls a thread ridiculous, if that’s his opinion?

Rudess, again thanks for verifying that the reason you posted this:

Is because people that posted on this thread found Penn to be among the ugliest campuses in the Ivies. No more No less. It is not just my opinion. It is the opinion of the others that ranked the campuses on this thread.

So,

Live with it

There are also many threads that show that Penn is not the top ranked school in the Ivies academically. Are you also going to accuse those threads of being “the most ridiculous threads I’ve seen in the history of College Confidential.”?

live with it

JohnAdams12, again thanks for verifying that your argumentative capabilities cannot go much beyond immature comments that focus on what you think a person’s feelings are.

I think the reason of my first post in this thread is pretty clearly expressed in that same post. I don’t see why you think you have won something by re-stating it.

That’s very clear to me. It is also not the opinion of many other people in the world.

More importantly, it seems you still don’t understand. Can you understand?

Wait a minute. You think that threads show statements? So if there are many threads that say that you are an idiot, then you are an idiot. Those are some very serious reasoning skills. I may accuse some other threads of being some of the most ridiculous threads I’ve seen in the history of College Confidential, yes. That’s certainly possible.

Are you going to keep using threads as means to show statements?

And finally,

What is it that I have to live with? My life is very fine at the moment, thanks.

Perhaps you need to learn to live with ‘it’, whatever ‘it’ means.

rudess, so all of this because you are insulted that people that have posted on this thread regard Penn’s lowly campus close to the bottom of the ivies…

ok, it is your opinion that Penn’s campus should rank among the top of the Ivies…

good for you.

In fact, I am doing you a favor by posting a thread in the “College Search and Selection” area for people to post what their thoughts are on this matter:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/931344-univ-pennsylvanias-campus-where-would-you-rank-ivies.html</a></p>

the results should be fun and exciting, don’t you think?

I*

What is your problem? You’ve really got serious issues, what an immature little man.

I can understand JHS’s kids’ reaction in post #51. For a kid from Philly, particularly with upper-middle class parents, Princeton might seem very familiar.
My daughter wasn’t interested in Harvard because it was too urban, and even Yale seemed similar. She grew up in a major city (Chicago) and was ready for a change. Of course the safety net of bailing to NYC is even easier from Princeton than it is from Yale.
My urban hipster son had an even bigger stretch, spending four years in Hanover. The solution was a combination of founding “Friday Night Rock” on campus and traveling the countryside at dusk spotting moose with his girlfriend (he didn’t drive).
On beauty, for me it would be…
Princeton
Cornell
Dartmouth
Yale
Harvard
Columbia
Penn
Brown

From the ones I have seen:

  1. Princeton
  2. Yale
  3. Dartmouth
  4. Brown
  5. Harvard
  6. Penn

I have not seen Columbia or Cornell, but I imagine they are better than Penn. I believe the problem with Penn is that it is an urban campus without the buildings and architecture at Yale, Harvard, and even Brown for that matter. To me, the buildings seemed more like office buildings than what you would expect from one of the top schools in the nation, but this is just my opinion.

Hey danas, kudos to your son. Friday Night Rock was the highlight of my visit to Dartmouth. Awesome show, lovely people.

I have not seen Dartmouth, but for the rest:

  1. Princeton
  2. Yale
    [gap]
  3. Cornell
  4. Harvard
    [gap]
  5. Penn
  6. Columbia
  7. Brown

1: Eternally Pton
2: Who gives? Probs Yale, but anyways, it’s a school below Pton
…

yale
princeton
cornell
etc.

Can somebody explain their placement of Penn above Brown. I am not saying this is wrong … you are entitled to your opinion … but I was wondering what might make you say that.

so johnadams 12, all of this because you cannot deal with someone who can keep up with your immaturity while showing the stupidity of your posts.

No, that is a false statement. Why do you assign feelings to persons on your posts? This shows that you are not smart.

No, you’re just being immature once again. I am doing you a favor by highlighting this.

No, it is not fun an exciting to see immature persons like you do polls that get 20 votes.

And I say 20 and not 21 because I did not vote in your thread. You can therefore remove me from the list.

But let’s focus on a more important issue now.

Let’s have a look at the thread you created:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/931344-univ-pennsylvanias-campus-where-would-you-rank-ivies.html</a></p>

The results you posted above are a complete misrepresentation of the comments made on the thread. Few people even gave a number as a ranking. Let’s look at some of the comments made in the thread, each by a different poster:

JohnAdams12,

Why did you create a thread and then misrepresented its results against Penn?

JohnAdams12,

You have created a thread to prove a point which has proved the opposite.

JohnAdams12,

You have lost all of your credibility in this thread and you have defeated yourself.

I find this argument a bit absurd, but the derailing of Johnadams’ derisive intentions into a Penn love-fest is sort of hilarious.

muerte, it is pretty funny how the penn boys have attempted to derail my attempts to take a simple poll, isn’t it?

Putting the Penn discussion aside, I think we can all agree that Princeton has the best campus though?

1) Brown
2) Cornell
3) Princeton
4) Yale
5) Dartmouth
6) Harvard
7) Columbia
8) UPenn
