Rank the 8 Ivys in terms of Campus Beauty

^^^^^ Apparently, no, we cant

Here is a “feel good” type of youtube:

[Princeton University -](http://www.princeton.edu/main/news/multimedia/player.xml?videopath=/main/news/archive/S20/11/06Q00/index.xml&auto_play=true&section=mm-featured)

Love the shot of the Grad College. I used to work in the dining hall there when I was an undergrad. Beautiful place!!

@ JohnAdams: I readily admit that Princeton and Cornell are prettier than the rest of the Ivy League, and Yale is slightly nicer, but otherwise the remaining ivies each have their mix of nice and not-so-nice architecture. I personally think that Brown and Columbia are the ugliest. Harvard and Penn each have their ugly parts, and then some absolutely gorgeous areas (Penn’s quad, law school, college+logan halls, fine arts library and engineering quad; Harvard’s river houses and of course the Yard). Brown and Columbia are both fine, but nothing that blows me away. Dartmouth maintains a universality of collegiate style, but I prefer the grandeur of neo-gothic and neo-palladian architecture to dull, if consistent, New England village Church-steeple type stuff.

What point are you trying to make? That Penn is the ugliest? If so, you are a titanic ****** bag. Given that Penn is already a very attractive school, to say it’s not AS beautiful as a handful of its peers, especially when aesthetics are so subjectively evaluated, is moronic and petty.

It’s not as though we’re talking about selectivity, where you can tabulate average ACT or SAT scores. Are you trying to say Penn isn’t the MOST beautiful? OK, I think we can all get behind that.

Regardless, grow up.

In answer to post #74, Penn above Brown.
The problem with Brown to me is that it doesn’t have a single (or double, or triple) iconic image. Penn sort of pulls together on that central walk through campus, where the buildings all seem to be roughly the same scale and vintage.
The most memorable building to me, unfortunately, at Brown is the tallest building on campus, the concrete brutalist science-computer science building.
Princeton has Nassau Hall, Dartmouth the Baker Library and Dartmouth Hall, Harvard the Yard and Widener Library.
That said, I would rather have my kid attend Brown than Penn, but that isn’t the topic of discussion.

muerte, what’s with the insults?

take some time and read this thread from the beginning

then come back and apologize for your attacks

I am just tabulating what people are posting…no more no less

How can Penn be the ninth prettiest in the Ivy League…?

Cause its so ugly people leave an extra space between it and the other 7 :P

Columbia

Princeton

Yale

Brown

Cornell

Penn

Dartmouth

Harvard

Haha…well I disagree about Penn being the ugliest ivy. Though, that is a highly personal issue. However, even if it was, its still the IVY LEAGUE. Being the ugliest ivy league school is like being the worst NFL football player. At the end of the day, Penn still has a nice campus and that NFL guy is pulling in over half a mil a year.

Find both Princeton and Cornell particularly beautiful in summer

bumppppppp

I found Princeton to be just about perfect in the spring

Princeton did look beautiful this past weekend for reunion and graduation.

bumppppppp

From the ivies I’ve visited:

Princeton
Cornell
Penn
Harvard
Brown
Columbia

(I’ve heard good things about Yale’s campus, and some not-so-good things about Dartmouth’s campus.)

i’ve only visited HYP, penn and columbia… i’d say princeton is the prettiest, penn the ugliest of those, in my opinion
i think it also does depend on what you think of the surrounding area. i’m going to harvard in the fall, but i really don’t think the campus is attractive- cambridge is adorableee though! and i loved columbia because i thought it was the perfect blend of campus and city. there were parts of yale that were gorgeous, but also parts i didn’t like at all. and when i visited penn, it was my first choice and i was so excited to be there… literally stepped onto campus and was like, “ew. no.” haha, just not for me i guess.
but they all have their strong spots, obviously :))

ambition, can you tell us a little more about this?

because, certainly, things about the Penn campus that you didn’t like might be appealing to others.

thanks
