Rank the best CCC'S!!!

i agree, if u're looking to save money, why would u move? The costs of living on ur own are huge...

10% of those admitted were TAP, or 10% of those who applied were TAP?

If it is 10% of those admitted, as I assume, that evinces TAP isn't so important after all.

And for Berkeley--trust the BERKELEY TRANSFER ADVISORS, NOT your local CCC counselors. I have found that many local counselors will discourage you; they don't have a real feel for Berkeley because at many schools (such as mine) only around 5 people transfer there each year.

Yeah, the main reason I'd attend a CCC over a school like UCSD or UCD would be to save money. I know moving would cost a ton more than living at home, but I'd still be saving a ton of money even with paying for an appartment. In a perfect world, I'd live at home, attend Napa Valley College, then transfer to UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCSD, etc.

gabew42: One great thing about Napa Valley College is the fact that a Berkeley Transfer Advisor makes regular visits to Napa CC and I'm already planted on the advisor's radar. All and all, here's my basic question: if I get close to a 4.0 at a CCC and write awesome essays, does it matter if I'm at Napa CC or Foothill? Once again, thanks for all the help everyone.

A competitive GPA, outstanding essays along with finishing your Pre-reqs and the IGETC will give you a good chance to get into any UC, no matter what CCC you go to. I say, do what you feel comfortable with and try your best wherever you go.

Batman-I think you already asked that; the answer is no.

Good to know...again. Sorry for asking the same question again, I just don't want to screw anything up...thanks for the time and here's what I think I'll do: attend UCD, UCSD, (UCB, UCLA if I get in) straight out of high school; or go to Napa Valley College, get a 4.0 GPA w/ great essays and apply to UCB, UCLA, USC, UCD, Stanford?, etc. Thanks; I'll leave you alone now lol.

Ha--that sounds like a great plan.

You're obsessive batman.

If money is not an issue I would reccomend attending the uni that you get into out of high school. I did the CC route and feel that I would have felt much more a part of the University I attend now if I had started there as a freshman.

bjwbell: your location says Davis, CA so I'm going to assume UC Davis. I really like UCD (my no. 1 outside of the "take a chance at UCB and UCLA" category) I'd like to hear anything you have to say about the school and why you feel it would be better to attend as a freshman. Thanks.

Just interested in how College of the Canyons compares?

As a transfer it's harder to get to know all the people in whatever department you end up in. I'm not naturally very outgoing so it takes me a long time for me to make friends and two years is not enough time.

Also there is the hasle of getting all your GE's done. I didn't do the IGETC since I was fairly young and only wanted to study math and physics. This turned out to be a problem since several GE classes I took at the community college did not count for anything.

Santa Monica college is overrated.

The Persians are taking over the world through it.
