Hi everyone.

I've been on this board for over a year, trying to give advice to you all.

One thing that's really been bothering me lately is this whole idea of "ranking prep schools"--especially the "prep school ranking game" thread. It's demoralizing to the schools and the students. All of the schools on this thread are fantastic.

I hope that people stop this game, as it has no true positive effect on this board.

Thanks for reading.

PS: Yes, when this was first created I ranked schools. As I have gotten older, however, I realize that this game is trivial.

I don’t know if it’s now so much as “rank” meaning the best, so much as “like.”

I understand what you mean, rbgg. I just don’t find “the prep school ranking game” effective for determining the worth of a school.

It’s pretty fun downrating those that rejected you though.

Yes, I know. Still, that doesn’t help any prospective student decide what school to go to. At once you really liked the school you applied to (most likely) and therefore have no real basis for downrating a school that rejected you, other than the fact that they didn’t accept you.

If someone takes the boarding school ranking thread seriously, they obviously are not ready for boarding schools anyway.

You can never be sure of people on this board. It doesn’t change the fact that it’s a trivial game that has no positive effect on any reader here.

I think it’s just a game, and is left at that. No one really takes it seriously-- do they? I think the kids on here are smart enough to understand that it’s a just a poll. It was just something to do until March 10th came around.
