Ranking US News - National Universities

Rankings come out this week. Any predictions on where Northeastern will land on the list?

45

My prediction:

Northeastern will go down/up by a proportionally small amount, and everyone will react disproportionately.

I can already see the spin.

New email from admissions@nu.edu: Northeastern University has risen steadily to NUMBER 44 in the rankings! Your NU degree is like a fine cheese; it will become more prestigious with age!

or

New post on CollegeConfidential.com: Now that it dropped to number 51 in U.S. News, will Northeastern go the way of ITT?

Resident expert @TomSrOfBoston – what do you think?

LOL Who knows! Hoping for 42-45 but last year there were 6 schools tied for 41 and 4 tied for 47.

I must say, I wasn’t expecting us to jump this much:

39!!!

Wow!!

39 was my prediction for last year and it didn’t happen. That’s why I was conservative in my prediction above.

@TomSrOfBoston is this the highest they’ve ** ever ** been ranked?

And tied with BU

@suzyQ7 not TomSr, but I believe it is yeah.

We were also tied with BU two years ago iirc.

The bschool ranking seems to have gone down?

Considering how many schools are tied for 39, and how how there have been similar such large ties in part years, this is basically the same as the 42 they were at 2 years ago, and really not much different than 47 last year.

It’s a 4-way tie with UC-Irvine, Tulane, RPI, and Boston University. So, NU is in the range of 39 to 43. But you have to admit, it does feel good that Northeastern is now #39.

OK I dug out the numbers from my records:
Please note the year below is the year it came out (for example the we are in 2016 with the 39 ranking, so that is why I did not use the 2017 year for that ranking, even though that is how they call it). You can always just add 1 to the year to match up with USNEWS label.

@novafan1225 According to the Bloomberg B School ranking D’Amore-McKim is ranked 22 down from 19 the year before but still ahead of WUStL, Carnegie Mellon, BU and UC Berkeley. Not too shabby.

@tomsrofboston that’s it, I’m used to the Bloomberg rankings so the number seemed a bit out of place. 22 is definitely more in range of what I’m used to. Thanks!
