I'm a junior in high school and UCSC is my top choice so far.
I have a 3.823 GPA weighted (an A+ is a 4.300) and a 3.799 GPA unweighted. I'm ranked 20th out of a class of 161.
My schedule for next year consists of Honors Physics, Anatomy & Physiology, AP English Literature, Latin I, AP Psychology, Pre-Calculus, AP Microeconomics, Government, Sociology, Internet History.

This year I took:
Accelerated World History (A)
AP Spanish Language (A+)
Public Speaking (A+)
Psychology (A)
Algebra 2 (A-)
AP English Language (A)
Honors Chemistry (A)
Driver's Education (A-)
Personal Finance 2 (A+)
Economics (A)

My EC's include: Musical - either a cast member or a volunteer (all 3 years), Student Government Representative (1), Quiz Bowl (1), MUN (2 years), Varsity Cross Country (2 years), Varsity Outdoor Track & Field (1), Varsity Indoor Track & Field Manager (1), Mastersingers (1), "Skit Night" (3 years).

I've been accepted into an environmental science summer camp for this summer and I'll be taking a college algebra class at a local college this summer. I'll also be joining the Gay-Straight Alliance, Math League, and Quidditch Team for next year.

Awards/accomplishments:
I barely have anything here but I did win second place for my state in a writing contest! I've gotten awards for my academic achievements as well. I got a "best leader" award for a chorus class I took during my freshman year.

Scores:
I got a 1600 on my first SAT (550 Math, 540 Reading, 510 Writing). I feel like I'll do better this time around because I've dramatically improved in my Algebra 2 class and I've learned so much more and in my AP English Language class I've also dramatically improved and learned a lot more. I have yet to take the ACT but I'll be taking that soon. I'm more of a science person so perhaps the science portion of the ACT will help boost up my score.

Basically, I just really want to go to this school and I'm not sure if I can.

I would say as long as you do well on your SATs (1900+) and have a unique personal statement, then you have a strong chance of getting in. Another thing to consider is what you plan on majoring in, since some majors are more competitive to get into.

Alright, thanks. I plan on majoring in Biology.

I got in with unewighted 3.6 GPA and Sat 1740. I had no Idea what my weighted was. I graduated with 20 college semester units and didn’t take any AP classes.
I only had a few EC’s and those included sail instructing, horse therapy, and ski Instruction.

Getting in also depends on how competitive the year your applying is. 2012 saw a 5000 plus jump in applicants from 2011 and a big jump in avg GPA and SAT/ACT. No idea if 2013 will be more or less.

your chances look pretty good how did it end up?

Your chances look just fine.
