Rate my junior and senior year schedules?

So, I’ve become nearly obsessive compulsive when it comes to scheduling. I still really want to go to Johns Hopkins or Carnegie Mellon mainly to pursue my music and science interests, but I have three matches and a decent safety school all in Maryland.

One question: Should I take AP Physics 1 with no prior physics experience and rush through the summer work?

I will be studying for the new SAT as well as three SAT II Subject Tests (Math II, Chemistry, Spanish), so this is by no means a chance thread since it’s too early.

JUNIOR YEAR SCHEDULE

Academy of Health Professions 3/4 (Honors and involves an intensive hospital internship)
GT Pre-Calculus
AP Physics 1: Algebra Based (or GT Physics if I can change my schedule)
AP English Language
Honors US History (honestly too late to even consider AP)
Honors Spanish 4
Chorus (repeat from 9th grade)

AP Music Theory self-study

SENIOR YEAR SCHEDULE

AP Calculus BC (if my math is good enough)
AP Biology
AP English Literature
AP Spanish Language
Economics (0.5) / Health (0.5)
Chorus (why not three of four years?)
Guitar

If all of these classes happen to be one credit each (unlikely), then I would prefer to not take guitar and instead start another internship. If either Bio or Calc is two credits, then I’m not doing an unpaid internship and the schedule remains as shown. Thank you guys!

  • AFAIK, Physics 1 requires no previous physics experience. Not sure what you mean by rushing through summer work, though.
  • Junior year schedule looks fine.
  • Senior year schedule looks fine, keep in mind though that AP Bio and AP Lit are more time-consuming than other AP classes.

Just out of curiosity, when do you plan on taking your SAT IIs? It’s usually recommended for students to take their science-based SAT IIs shortly after completing their class. If you plan on taking them towards the tail end of your junior year, and if you do well in AP Physics, I would seriously consider taking the Physics SAT II, unless you’re okay with taking time to re-study for Chemistry/just winging it.

The schedules are fine, IMO.

AP Physics 1 requires no prior physics experience.

I disagree very strongly with this. AP Physics 1 only covers about half the topics on the subject test, so unless you want to spend a ton of time learning the topics not covered, you are better off prepping for the chem test
