Is there anything I should look into that I haven’t taken yet? My parents are skeptical about psychology. Thoughts?
I’m flexible to changes. Any thoughts or opinions?
bump, sorry! I need to know soonish
Overall I’d give it 8-9/10 so very good.
All these things are just really small things I could think of, but none of them are really necessary. You could potentially study Spanish IV over the summer and take AP during the year. Also, if you wanted a challange you could do AP Euro instead of AP Pysch. I think I’ve heard that AP Euro is harder, but I would want someone else to confirm that. What is your post-BC class? You could always do DE at your CC if you wanted more options/college credit, Again that’s all really just being super nitpicky as there is always something to improve on. It’s a good schedule and I’m impressed at all the hard classes you took early on.
@Madeline25 Thanks! I’ll look into AP Euro instead of AP Psych, especially because I know my AP Euro teacher well and I think she could write me a really good Rec.
I would only take AP stats if you’re passionate about it - this is a class that’s better taken in college (it can go under “relevant coursework” on your resume, whatever internship or job you’re applying for, but no emplyer cares about the classes you took in high school). For admissions purposes it doesn’t really count.
I also wouldn’t take AP lit unless you intend to major in the humanities or love to read. I love to read but this is a very time-consuming class where you must spend a lot of time reading.
Take Honors English and another elective (I’d suggest art, but it can be something else).
Keep in mind that senior year you have the equivalent of an extra class with all the essays you have to write.
@MYOS1634 Thank you for your input. I think I’m definitely going to take AP Lit because English classes are my favorite. I really like to discuss/share my opinion w/ others. I’ll look into AP stats because I’ve heard that colleges don’t really think it’s a real AP. I appreciate your feedback
In that case, you’re going to love AP Lit.
AP stats - statistics is better taken in college. You could take it in HS of course as a sort of precourse, but why waste a period on that? Senior year, you should take a class just for the fun of it. First, one class won’t make or break your curriculum rigor - either it’s rigorous at that point, or it isn’t. Second, it could become a good talking point.
@MYOS1634 Thanks! Sometimes I get caught up in the idea that my course-load has to be perfect, and I forget to think about what I want to do.
If you can handle the workload, I would drop AP Stats for AP Euro.
@goldenbear2020 Okay! Do you think I should keep psych?
Psych is usually a pretty easy class, so I would keep it just to have the H/AP boost on the weighted GPA. Did your parents have another class in mind instead of psych?
@goldenbear2020 I was thinking of taking AP Euro instead of H/AP Psych.
Does your school offer AP Physics C? Everything is great, but your physics. I am assuming you want to pursue engineering? Try to maybe self study Physics 1 in the summer, and go to Physics 2 next year. Take the SAT Subject test in physics to show proficient knowledge in the subject. But only take SAT Physics once you complete at least 1/2 year of Physics 2 and diligently study the other 1/2.
The difficulty of classes depends on the school because at my school AP Psych is considered to be the hardest of our offered APs. (And you have a good enough schedule already, any changes would not make much difference in the college admissions process, so it really comes down to personal preference.)
