Rate My Sophmore Schedule

AP Biology
Algebra 2 Honors
English Honors
U.S. History Honors
Financial Literacy
P.E.
French
Journalism

Out of 10 how would you rate my schedule, regarding how vigorous it is?

I'm seriously thinking of self-studying AP Psych, but I wanted feed back if I should and is the material I need to study requires a lot of time?

Good. I give it an 8. Could you rate mine?

AP US government
AP Macroeconomics
H Pre-Calculus
H English 10
H Chemistry
PE/Health
Spanish 2

@DasDania: I would give it a 6/10. Average rigor, basically.
@tigerman333: I would give it a 8/10. Competitive rigor, but not the most competitive.

Colleges are only going to rank you compared to the rest of your school, the question should be, compared to the options at your school for a sophomore, how rigorous is it?

Also, self-studying does not good, colleges want to see you have taken the class.

@DasDania: 7, half of them aren’t Honors including you’re foreign language but overall it seems fine.
@tigerman333‌: I agree with BipolarBuddhist‌ on it being an 8 since Spanish isn’t an Honors but it’s good overall.
How about mine?
AP European history (dual enrollment)
AP World history
Chemistry honors
Geometry Honors
Literature 2 Honors
French 2 Honors
Introduction to Art ( Required)
Health/gym

Tigerman333,
8.5, I took Honors Chemistry this year and took the SAT 2’s along with it.

It depends really. What is available at your school and what is the policy on AP courses and how and when you can take them?

Hobos Spanish isn’t available at my school until spanish 3

@realtwinkie: I would say 7.5. You have a lot of honors courses, which is good, but being in Geometry as a sophomore is a bit of a cripple. I would definitely give you an 8.5 or even a 9 if you were in Honors Algebra II/Trig. Try to skip a year of math over the summer, preferably this summer, so you can do Honors Precalculus (it gets way harder to skip math as the curriculum goes deeper).

@DasDania‌ I would rate yours a 6/10 as well. I find after U.S History honors, your other courses are average. Could anyone please rate mine:

AP BIO
AP SPANISH
Adv. English 3-4
Adv. World History
Algebra 2
P.E

I want to note that I cannot take honors english in my school until 11 grade.

@tigerman333‌: Same typo happened to me for honors. And if no honors are offered for Spanish 2, I’d bump it to a 9.
@‌BipolarBuddhist: I know it hurts but I plan to double up junior year on algebra II honors and precalculus honors

@sadiea5252: I’d give you a 9 but have a question about if you can take algebra 2 honors.

No theres only algebra 2 @realtwinkie‌

@bloodythunder‌ What if your school doesn’t offer that AP course?

@LosingCrayon‌ as long as you are taking the most rigorous courses possible, it is fine. My school only offers AP’s in World, US, Chemistry, and Physics. The rest are either CC or other non-college level classes.

I’d give yours an 8.5! Do you mind rating mine?

H English 10
H Pre-Calc (I took Algebra 2 as a freshman and am taking Geometry over the summer)
H World History (my school doesn’t offer AP World)
H Spanish 2
AP Biology
Painting - Fall sem
Java (pre req to AP Comp Sci) - Spring Sem
Religion (I go to a Catholic high school)

I’m also taking an online chem course at BYU so I have a background in it when I take AP Chem my junior year

I’d give you a 9.5 for AP Bio, Precalc Honors, and the 3 other honors classes being taken. It seems other than language, you’re taking the most rigorous course load possible.
