Rate this schedule based on rigor(for junior year)

For a little perspective, my school is fairly small and offers about 3 AP classes per grade minimum(and also has the IB program). We are choosing our courses for next year
AP English III
IB History HL
AP Calc AB
AP Phys B
Hon Span IV
and I’m planning on dropping my extra elective to double up on math and take AP Stats.
How many hours of hw etc would you say I would have? Is this manageable?

Impossible to judge homework, depends highly on teacher. My Algebra II teacher made me go through 500 papers for homework, while my Honor’s Pre-Calc teacher assigned homework maybe once a week and only five problems. Seems like you’d be getting a fair amount though, so prepare to work, especially with double math and AP Stats. Overall if you’re looking for rigor, it appears to be that you have found it.

For me, the double math = AP Calc + Stats lol. But thanks for your reply!
What year are you in?

Oh I’m sorry. I thought you meant it as Double Math + Stats. I’m a senior ( in terms of credits) but a junior in regards to time spent in high school. I’m considered one of the “nerds” in my school and a lot of our classes are the same, so that does lend your schedule some credit.

Any other opinions?

Similar to mine, you’ll be fine.

In some regards, we have similar (planned) junior year schedules. However, I cannot give you an answer to either question you have. Like @Aruvikkara‌ mentioned, homework load depends on the teacher and many other factors. My English teacher doesn’t give homework frequently, but when he assigns homework, he assigns a lot. On the other hand, my math teacher frequently assigns small sets of problems. If you want to know about homework loads for classes, try asking an older student who has taken some/one/all of the classes you’re considering. If you can’t find a student, you can always ask a/the teacher/s that teach the class(es) you’re asking about.

When you ask if your schedule is manageable, there are many things you must consider. Do you do any extracurriculars? Does your method of transportation limit your time (ex: my brother swims and I can’t drive, so my parent has to drop him off at swimming every day after school, which takes about half an hour on top of my regular commute)? How much time do your extracurriculars take away from your after school time?

Another question to keep in mind is long term projects. Some classes have quarter/grading period long projects. Sophomore year at my school is known for a large, third quarter research paper. However, despite the size of this project, which is most of the third quarter English grade, other classes continue to assign the normal loads of homework. Long term assignments take time out of your day beyond the normal homework load.

In short, there are many factors that go into a schedule’s rigor and homework load. I (and probably everyone else on ths site) cannot accurately give a prediction if a course will be too hard for you or not. If you want me to clarify on any of my points, just ask.
