Rating schools

I just wanted to understand the fascination with rating schools on this forum. I feel we all agree or mostly agree on the top 10. But after that it's really up to the person and what they want. Exeter has harkness, Deerfield has sports etc. So will someone PLEASE explain why people all insist that one or another is "the best!"

because they are passionate

it’s really a personal opinion

there is no “one size fits all” best school

there is only one best school for each student

^I agree with your first line but disagree with your last line.

I think that students are a fit for a few different schools. If a student is accepted at school A, school B, and school C, then the three schools believe that the student would be a good fit at their individual schools. No matter what school the student chooses, he/she will be perfectly fine. If the student chooses school B over school A and C, he/she won’t necessarily have a better or worse time at school B than if he/she choose school A or C.

i understand that but there might be one or two schools or many schools where a student will really truly do well, in the classroom, on the fields, in the dorms ETC. but there is only one school in their view that is the best, while there are many schools that would do well at. sorry that was kinda wordy and poorly written

Very true. It really depends on boarding schools that the poster takes a liking to, and that’s different for everyone. For me, I’m passionate about Deerfield, and only Deerfield.
