so how many girls go to west point?

you can see here how many there were for branching:
http://www.usma.edu/dmi/ppt/2006BranchStats.ppt

looks like ~15%

but girls like to drop out more than guys. thats a proven fact (i kid, i kid). so its probably more girls 4th class year.

collegeboard doesnt say the %, so I'm out of sources, hope i helped.

15% in the incoming class as well, for the last few years.

There's about 200-250 in each class.

We were told on R-Day that 15% of the class of '09 was female. The goal is 14-16%.

There were 251 in my class at the very beginning. I'm not sure how many there are now.

wow4201: First off, No "girls" go to West Point. However, quite a few young women of character receive appointments.

marine4me: Better check out some of those "women". According to the stats, only about 200 of the 251 are classified by USMA as women. Hope the academy doesn't have a cross-dressing problem.

From the website class profiles, here's the stats for the last 4 classes:

Class / Women / Total

2006 / 198 / 1197
2007 / 194 / 1314
2008 / 194 / 1224
2009 / 189 / 1251

oh "off course" only prestigious elite young women with a high aptitude for moral integrity, honor, and service to this terrific country go to the United States Military Academy.

I hope that made sense

I think Aspen is correct, seems like I saw numbers slightly under 200 for female cadets entering for the class of 2009. Good thing for the men as some of them scored higher on the APFT than the majority of the men! I know of at least one that was a better shot than all the men in her squad :)

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

hey WoW, I'm guess you're a girl (errr... I mean young woman)! I was beginning to feel like there weren't too many other girls going for the Academies. I think I read earlier that you got an LOA, so maybe we'll see eachother there next year! If you are a guy, I apoligize profusely right now!

actuaaaaaaaaaaaalllyyy Im a guy!! lol maybe I just wanna know my odds if i get accepted ;) and no i havent gotten an LOA either haha but im keeping my fingers crossed!

WoW4201, let me illustrate the situation for you:

Good one...you have a future in illustration if the WP thing doesn't pan out...

Taffy's at it again. I've had my laugh for the day (again). With Taffy at any of the Academies, life there would never be boring. He shows very creative ways that one might entertain themselves & others. Indeed a brilliant mind at work.

or maybe I have a future drawing for www.eDoDo.org

You would fit in there quite well. That is a funny site which can be applied to all the academies.

hahaha taffy..that resembles me quite well gj.

hey taffy, nice picture ;). I apoligize for the mistake WoW, but out of curiosity are there any other girls on this site applying to USMA? I know there are others out there somewhere!

Right here, soccer1458. I have an LOA, medical waiver granted, physically and academically qualified, waiting for a nomination to USMA. On the flip side, I'm also applying to USNA---no waiver yet, nomination pocketed. I like the picture up there...reminds me of the good old isketch days.
