<p>I'm planning to take 1B this summer or the coming fall. Should I take Ravetch over Gardner or vice versa? I know that Ravetch is insanely hard, but inspiring. However, I don't want my GPA to take a hit, so should I take it with Gardner then?</p>

<p>I had both Ravetch and Gardner, and I prefer Gardner.</p>
<p>Gardner doesn't hand-hold her students as much -- office hours aren't as open, doesn't respond to emails, comes to class late. But she's a good lecturer, her classes are entertaining and her tests are fairly straightforward (but very time pressured!). </p>
<p>But at the same time, I'm really glad I took Ravetch for 1B. He's inspiring, great lecturer and really, genuinely cares about his students. He's relatively harder, but his tests aren't impossible, they're just a bit tricky and requires you to really know the stuff. </p>
<p>All in all, you'd be fine either way.</p>
