Razer Blade vs. GIGABYTE P2542G

Hello CC!

I am looking for a gaming laptop. I have boiled it down to two laptops after a bunch of research. I cam down to the new Razer Blade (14") and the GIGABYTE P2542G (15.6"). I like the look of the Razer Blade more and I have been looking at it a while. However the P2542G is cheaper and has a much better cooling system which will be nice because I am on my laptop all the time whether gaming or casual things (i.e. networking, research, school papers, etc.) Examples of things I will be doing on the laptop:

-Serious Gaming
-Networking
-Papers
-Programming
-Work
-Basic Computing
And more

I need something portable (4-6 lbs) so I can carry it around my house and between friends' houses easily. I often move from place to place and that could get tiring if I have to carry some Hulk of a laptop. I can pay anything less than $2,500. I was hoping that those with either laptop or experience with them could give me advice on how they felt and what the pros and cons were of each. I am open to more suggestions too.

Thank You!!

P.S. I am not that knowledgeable on specifications so please do not ask me for those kinds of things. I am really trusting you guys to help me out. I know I want a lot of memory and great screen resolutions so my images are sharp and clear from most angles. Also, I want it fast. Again, Thank you!

I just had another addition, a DVD/Blu-Ray player does not bother me if I have on or not. I barely touch the one I have now so losing it won’t mess me up.

Have you looked at the Lenovo Y510P? It is the dual video card version of the Y500. It has the GT750m video card vs. the GTX660m of the Gigabyte. The 750m is about 10% faster. But, add dual cards …

The Razer has a GTX765m, which is definitely better that the Gigabyte, and slightly better than the Lenovo in a single card configuration. Don’t know how the GTX765M would compare to dual GT750m.

If gaming is your goal, then the Razor is better than the Gigabyte. However, on a cost basis, I would look at the Lenovo Y510P. The combo may be cheaper than a gaming laptop.

Really think hard if you need portability for gaming. If not, then buy a desktop for gaming, and get a cheap laptop for everything else.

You can look at the MSI GS70 which is coming out soon. This has the same GTX765M and Core i7 as the Razer but it has 16GB RAM and it has a 750GB HD to go along with its 128GB SSD while being as thin as the Razer Blade. This is all for $1800

An $800 Lenovo should be able to play any game you want for 1/2 the price.
