RD 2013 Anxiety Thread

ikatfabric, chill out. They are still processing applications. Worry if they contact you about not having it. And, maybe them not receiving your scores is indicative of how little SAT scores matter ;)

See, superwoman, I was using humor, too! Haha. For coping, I found this mini-calendar and I cross off days counting down til the last week of March. It helps me to visually see my wait. Otherwise, I pretty much am my mellow self. I try not to get worked up. Humor is great, though -- it's importance shouldn't be understated.

Excellent idea for a story; I'm sure it would be interesting to read awhile after we've completed the process. But maybe we want to try something not related to college so we're not obsessing? If anyone has ideas, please throw them out! Brainstorming party! Yeaaah!

And, just a question for you guys: how much does it cost to send your transcript? It was $3 for each college AND $3 for the mid-year report. Maybe I'm being ridiculous, but I feel like my high school is getting greedy, and it's annoying. All these fees are driving me crazy! I also feel bad that my parents have to pay them :/

Hmm...I think if we're going to start a story we should probably start a new thread. And then whoever wanted to could pick up where the last person left off. It would probably be best to do something simple...Anyway, I'm definitely in. XD

We only had to pay $2 for each transcript/midyear report. But still, that meant $36 for me. >.<;

Thanks! But that is definetly true! I wonder what other ideas barnard prospectives would come up with! As to the payment for transcript I had to pay $ 3.00, at first I thought my school was just being ghetto but then I noticed other people have to pay too. Well although I had fee waivers for the 11 schools I applied to I had to pay $ 33.00 for the transcript. They said we don't have to pay for our midyear though. That's the only thing I payed for throughout the college process thank goodness. Fee waivers are a blessing. Lol

that story idea sounds awesome! yet another way for me to avoid my schoolwork, hahaha

and I dont have to pay to send transcripts or midyear school reports. my schools on the smaller side (even more so the senior class).

avkjhgiuerhuier im so happy that other people are freaking out too. because i am fer-eeakin out. i seriously hope, like, we all get in. and then. have a giant barnard party. transcontinental party. WOOooo

Yea, I'm glad to live in Boston today! Snow day!! Now it's time for me to study, study, study; five chapter test for AP BIO (my nightmare) on Friday. I can't give into senioritis, I'm taking it head on! Yay for us for applying to Barnard! We got through the hardest part ladies, now we wait. (lol)

etched - you make an excellent point. Thanks. I swear, I'll stop worrying!

One day, I will consider making a chapter in my autobiography about this process. For now, I think we all need to not do things related to college and/or Barnard.

We should play that game where everyone says a word and it morphs into a story.

edit: Oh and transcripts-- it was $1 for each, but I picked them up because my school is unreliable. My mother insisted on using FedEx for them, which means it was like....unnecessarily expensive to send my transcripts. The school takes care of our mid year reports, though, since most of the kids stay in-state and don't need them.

Hmmm...I guess I was being a little melodramatic about the transcript fees then. It was weird, though, because when I went to send my mid-year report today, the registar person said Barnard like three times in the context of something being wrong, and I was like aaaarrrrgh. BUT ANYWAY.

mp, that sounds like fun and it could be (and probably will be) hilarious! Also, if we only did one word for each post, it'd probably go by quickly, so there'd be more opportunites to get distracted!

Precisely! Though, since I'm pretty sure we need ten characters per post, let's multitask in the posts and talk with each other AND put a word.

I'll begin:
When

Cool. Then there'd be two things going side by side. Conceptually, I find that to be really awesome.

So:

there

wait does anyone know how much like, they look at mid year reports? because i had a grade changed from last year from a B to an A and its not really anything major but it brought up my GPA.

oh and i ruined the story! sorry! ummmm... was!

Not sure, but I think the midyear report will override the previous GPA. If you're a candidate that was on the border, it will help a bit I guess.

Story: a

I'm not sure, either, but know that it certainly can't be negative :)

flower

I'm not sure either, but I'm waiting on a grade change from first semester (nothing major...a B to an A, but still) so I hope it doesn't hurt that much.

that

So, I just looked at my tracking thing, and there's a new message about them processing lots of stuff. I found that to be interesting; lots of people are stressing here, and then they sort of responded to it. Anyway, my question from that is how much time do they spend actually looking at the applications? Or are they looking at them now even though some may not be complete?

had

Etched: No idea on how much time they actually spend... I'm guessing it probably depends on how intriguing the app is, as well as the scores etc. I read in some book that an admis officer only spends 1 minute approx per application. No idea if that's true or false. I hope it's false, lol, though I would understand if it were true considering the deluge of applications they get. And your 2nd q: I'm sure they have a lot of applications that ARE complete and are looking at those.

bloomed

. Its

^figured somebody better end that sentence.

I'm so worried that they're going to call me this week and say, "WHERE ARE YOUR SAT SCORES YOU ARE IRRESPONSIBLE I AM REJECTING YOU RIGHT NOW!"

petals.
