White, coming from super competitive new england private school.
SATs - 750 writing 740 reading 610 math
ACTs - 27 composite, but i got 33's on two sections
GPA - 3.0 uw, 3.4 weighted - 7 AP's

Lots of extracurriculars and 100+ hours of community service, very involved in school.. activities chair, tutor, student admissions president & application reader, internship at city hall, held down 2 retail jobs for a combined total of three years.
Have a big art portfolio of paintings and mixed media works.

I meant to add, I really bombed my geometry class (D+ for the year) and even though in humanities classes like English, History and Spanish I've held down a four year A-/B+ average, my college counselor thinks I'll get rejected because of the one crappy grade. Frustrating right.. I don't even want to study math. What do you guys think?

My guidence counselor also said that UR admissions is pretty unpredictable. From what it looks like your gpa is a little low but I think your sourseload and SAT scores probably counter balance that. As long as you write a good essay you have a great shot. Oh and i know the majority of kids come from northern states so depending where in new england you are it would probably hurt or help.

Thank you guys! I'm coming from Boston, which probably works against me I guess. I was under the impression that the student body there was sorta balanced between northern and southern kids.

by the way, xx13xx, i read your other post and congratulations on getting in early :) I know a few people who are already attending and they're having a total blast and I bet you will too.

Thanks a lot I'm very excited. Good luck applying. By the way, when I was taking a tour over the summer I took a picture of their chart for geographic diversity because I'm a loser. Anyway I'll try to upload it later, I don't think Mass was one of the most popular...I'm pretty sure it was more like Virginia, NY, NJ, Penn, or something like that. I'll post a link when I get a chance.

Theres the georgraphic distribution chart... the red states are most popular followed by the blue, so it looks like Mass is 6th, which isn't bad for you.

Those are some other pictures I took at the campus. Anyway, i'm sure you'll be fine I mean your SAT scores are in the top 25% of people applying.

As someone of a similar background, (What private school?) I am pretty sure you'll get in. You do have a higher gpa and higher sats (though the 610 may work against you) than I had but I took a year off after high school so it probably balances out. Truth is, Richmond looks kindly upon our prep schools up north. If you show enough interest (I'm sure you're aiming higher than Richmond...?), get good recommendations like I'm certain you can, and write good essays, you should have a very solid foundation. With that said, I didn't get into most of the schools I applied to. You never know what admissions decision they're going to make because it's almost completely capricious.

Message me if you have questions. Also when did you receive the D+? That will play a significant role in how they look your application.
