Hey guys,
Im a White Middle class student from an average high school on Long Island.
So Basically I have everything going for me haha.
Your chances and imput would be greatly appreciated guys.

ACT- 29 (Stupid 24 on Science) but 30 Superscored. Do they accept Super?
SAT II-690 US HISTORY
Math I in Dec.

-Toughest Courseload possible.
-8 APs by graduation
-21/262 with a weigted Gpa of 96.7 ( Will go up due to 5 APS in Senior Year.)
-First Generation Student

-Ap Scholar
-Member of the National Society of High School Scholars.
-National Honor Society
-National Spanish Honor Society
-Tri M Music Honor Society
-Club Interact
-Principals Honor Roll
-Wrote the front page article for every issue of My school newspaper.
-English Student of the Year

Those are the generic ECS.
My main passion is music. My schools music program travels around the United States and Internationally every spring and have won nearly every competition.

-1st Alto Sax In Symphonic Band.
-Lead ALTo in HOnors Wind Ensemble
-Lead Alto in Pep Band
-Lead Alto in Jazz Ensemble
-Lead Alto in All District Band
-Lead Alto in PIT Band
-Audtion Pending, but most likely 1st Chair in All County Jazz Ensemble.
-I also have recieved nearly flawless scores on all of my judged nyssma performaces, including a 96 on my All State Jazz peice.

-I also will submit a supplemental CD that I had professionally recorded of me playing my all state Jazz peice.

-I also play piano and guitar privately.
-I have studied under Arlene Szabo for 10 years.
-I also have become a member of the National Piano Guild of America at the National and State Levels.
-I also was asked to submit a recording of my playing for a recital at Carnegie Hall.

-Guitar I have taught Myself, but have achieved relative mastery.
- I compose and write original music.
- I also write music for local musicians.

-I am also very involved with the community. In addition to various service projects with Club Interact,Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, and the Tri M music Honor Society, I personally run a toy drive for less fortunate children during the holidays. I do this by going around to local orginizations and people and asking for donations.

Lastly I have played Soccer Since Age 4.

I was a starter on JV Soccer in 8th and 9th Grade

3 Year Starter on Varsity

Academic All County

Played for the Division 1 Sachem Golden Eagles

and I played 3 Age groups up on the Division 2 Manorville Vipers.

-So that is basically it. I hope that my passion for music is reiterated througout my application and really serves as a "hook." My essay really conveys my musical interests and really unifies my application. Im just really worried and hoping that this can make up for my ACT Score.

Wow, I think you're in. Those are some great stats.

The average ACT score for NYU as a whole is 29-31, I believe.

Eh, I noticed the National Society of High School Scholars. Don't put that one down -- it really doesn't do anything.

Thanks Alot guys,
I heard that NYU Admissions was very numbers based so I was getting a little worried.

Does anyone else have any imput?

THanks in advance everyone.

it looks to me like you have nothing to worry about, but then again every year some "shoo-ins" get rejected and students who thought they had no chance get accepted (like me!).
I'm guessing you're applying to Steinhardt?

Im thinking of applying to either CAS or Gallatin.
Does anyone have any information on these schools?

Of all the questions you ask, the above is the only one that can be answered with any confidence. No, they do not, nor does any other school I am aware of. SATs are almost always superscored (except the UCs), while ACTs are never superscored, at least I have never heard of a school that does.

GroovyGeek is wrong.

NYU DOES superscore the ACT.

Do you combine SAT scores from different dates? - Topic Powered by eve community

This is not how I read this info

A highest composite score is also created for those students who submit results from more than one ACT exam.

Emphasis is mine. Like pretty much every school except the UCs, NYU superscores the SAT but not the ACT. The UCs do not superscore either, which IMO is the logical thing to do if you are not trying to massage rankings.

I went a CAS open house a few weeks ago, the director of admissions said that NYU superscores the ACT.

^^^ Thanks for clarifying that, I am indeed wrong
