RD Decisions

if we all ended up at Mac we could form a club ....the "college confidential 8" ...or however many of us there are here ha ha.....wanting it this bad should definitely count for something

ok so i called up mac admissions AGAIN (yes im desperate :S)

she said decisions are coming out tomorrow via email and regular mail. i asked what time. no later than 5 PM their time which i think is CT.

so around 24 hours to go i guess!

Haha, absolutely, canadianemigre! haha, that'd be awesome. we'd probably scare everyone else though...

I think it's so scary to call admissions offices. I always think i'll say something stupid and they'll reject me... ;)

24 hours. siiiigh.

hahah ok thats a good suggestion canadianemigre

yes it is scary, but i never tell them my name :S my friend has this strategy in which he pretends its his brother applying.

yep. yep. i think we should start an official countdown, although im still hoping they release it tonite. they're making us wait too long :(

Prospec, thanks so much for taking on the daunting task of calling (again ;) ) Well, at least now we know for sure :) I'm always scared to talk to admissions ppl since I don't know how to start, and yes, just like saammie I have a feeling that they may reject me or sth.

Whatever happens when decisions are out, the "College Confidential 8" sounds like a great idea.

And just to add my two cents to the previous talks about LACs vs. Ivies, yes ppl here are the same - they've heard only of Harvard and Yale, and I'm tired of answering questions why I didn't apply there. I know several ppl who have remarkable jobs which they got right after their graduation from LACs.

Anyone else on a spring break? I've never in my life thought that I wouldn't like a vacation, but now...

Nope,I have spring break next week.
Instead, I'm super super busy tomorrow. Which is probably good.
I have class all day, I need to find time to go down to my driver's school and book new lessons, write an essay and buy a costume for a grad party that night.
actually,i'll probably miss the decisions because of that party. i dont know if thats a good or a bad thing.

my parents were that way when i told them i only applied to LACs. 'Why?' almost. but it fits me so much better than a big university.

21 and a half hours to go....

I must admit it's a little lonely to be the only North American, up and awake when I presume you are all sleeping ha ha

well it's nice that we all understand where we are coming from, with our parents and friends thinking we are crazy!!

I hope you can enjoy your party tomorrow saaammie!!

i just got an email saying i got in! with good FA too! woohoo! i wish u guys all the best! (international here)

oh wow congrats!!

thats really scary. i hope that doesnt ive been rejected/waitlisted as they always seem to come later. im really banking on Mac.

good luck everyone!!!!

so anyone else got an email? atleast theve started...

Congrats red_mercury!
I am on wait list.

I got alternate listed. Well, it seems I have to attend UCLA... I had a nightmare about UCLA last night, but anyway... thank God I'll get California Residence next seven to eight months.

Congrats to all who accepted. My best wishes as you continue your education.

Does anyone know what to do if being placed on wait list?
I have WPI and Tulane's admissions both with great scholarships, but I much more prefer a small college like Mac.

ok, now im really nervous

so i got rejected, bleh. i guess i have no college now and shud take a gap year. any suggestions?

congrats to everyone who got. really happy for you guys, cuz macalesters brilliant :)

rejected here as well... what a way to start my morning. Congrats to those who got in, you'll be in a great place!

I'm waiting on fin aid from another college, so the waiting continues I guess.

prospec, I also considered gap year seriously, and I think it's a good idea. You can work so you can earn money and be in a better financial position next year (if financial aid is concern). In any case, it'd be a nice break and time to think things over. I'm really baffled that the majority of us here got waitlisted/rejected.

If you decide to take a gap year, plan your time carefully. AOs would like to see what meaningful experiences you have this year and how much you have improved.

gaaaah, i still havent heard anything. good sign, bad sign, i dont knooooow

my counselor told me not be too disheartened as this year its all about FA. so id say that to everyone here. plus universities have had a massive increase in apps, and more people are asking for aid.

good luck guys!
and again any bad news, dont be disheartened, a lot of people in my school are in the same boat as me!

Yeah, I hate that financial crisis and how it's affecting so many people. I hope the worst is over though and I'm sure whatever happens it'd be for good.
