***RD Haverford 2020***

To those not accepted, you are all hard working and talented students, and will achieve great things and shine elsewhere.

@“College dad123” have you run their Net Price Calculator removing older sibling from the equation? Haverford came basically dead on what the NPC estimated for our family. Might give you a ballpark idea. I am also sure if you called the Financial aid office they would be happy to discuss your situation.

Thank you highbury, I’ll do both, just a little nervous. Hear things about some schools offering attractive packages then reducing aid after first year, D was lucky enough to be accepted to both Bryn Mawr and Haverford with similar aid. Also offered four year full tuition scholarship to Lasalle, not in the best of areas, but with a excellent honors program , which is all wonderful. Just some tough choices

Our D was accepted ED. She was and continues to be thrilled about it! Her estimated grant was very generous based on our estimated income for 2015 that we had to file in October. It will be finalized using the actual 2015 tax returns that we sent in February. We have yet to receive the final aid decision. We are self employed and our income varies from year to year. I expect that her yearly financial aid application using the Profile and other business supplements will be determined by our tax returns from the previous year. Since the grants are need-based, a good year for us means that we will expect to pay more than in a less profitable year. I am very impressed that Haverford added books, personal expenses and travel expenses to room, board and tuition expenses when computing actual yearly net price.

Waitlisted, but I don’t think I’ll accept my spot. Congrats to everyone that got in!

@“College dad123” same! They expect my family to contribute $55000 this year (even though FASFA list us as being able to contribute far less). When my brother graduates next year, we’d probably be expected to be full pay. I need to contact them and see where my extra money is supposed to come from

@“College dad123” we are in the same situation with all the schools my son got into. Generous FA packages mostly in grants not loans based on the 2 yr overlap at all the top LAC he got into. YES we def. expect the FA package will change his junior and senior yr when oldest not overlapping so def. something to consider when making decisions. Makes sense that would be so as the EPC is based on the total amt they expect the parents able to contribute. So far example if an EPC is 60K but you have 2 kids in college at the same in private school with total cost of 120K than you would qualify for 60K in FA SPLIT between the two schools but when you only have one in school than the EPC would still be 60K but now expected to pay that full 60K at the one school(ie full price).

Thanks guys, it helps to know other family’s are going through similar circumstances . Any thoughts on full tuition to Lasalle honors program. Maybe not the forum for this, sorry if so.

Ugh. Still no mail today. Just to be optimistic…can anyone who’s been admitted tell me what the date is for the admitted students’ event (I think it’s called Open Campus Day or something)?

I’m trying to figure out our east coast accepted school visit schedule. We haven’t seen any of the schools he’s been accepted to outside of CA so we really do need to get to the top ones. April is going to be an interesting month.

It’s Sunday, April 17.

@momof2eagles you are everyone’s mom here. Thank you for your kind words that can be used by all.

is anyone else having troubles RSVPing to haverford’s open campus day? the link they provide (hav.to/OCD2016) sends me to haverford’s homepage…

@newamsterdam Try the link on the admitted students page!

@allotrope thanks got it!

Rejected. First college rejection ever so it doesn’t feel great but it wasn’t high on my list at all. Not sure it was a perfect fit for me anyway, atmosphere-wise. I’ve gotten into 2 of my top 3 so far so I’m a pretty happy applicant! we’ll all end up where we’re supposed to be!

Well even though rejections sting, at least it wasn’t a top choice or good fit. everything falls into place! @Tarahific

Will Haverford’s portal be updated as well?

How many waitlisted people are accepting their spot?

Did anyone else get a nice handwritten letter along with their letters? Jess Lord underline congratulations and wrote a pretty big paragraph – it was super nice!

Did any admitee get invitational emails about visits/events? I still don’t know my result because I’m on spring break…, and so far I’ve got nothing.
