Re: Students Attending Usc

This thread is for people that attend USC. Just wondering what were your grades like in 10 11 and 12 and your ECS also how many volunteer hours u guys did.

wow thank you everyone for your input;)

wow thank you for being a pest ;)

you have some serious trouble with patience huh??

haha well this is my first time on this site so i didnt realy know what to expect with the time u get for feedback, but im guessing from what u guys are saying that it takes a while

You'd get more responses if you asked the people who were recently accepted and are attending next year. A lot of college kids don't remember exactly what grades they got in high school, especially sophomore year.

yah ive been trying to find out which kids got accepted but i really dont know how is there maybe a list of users that got accepted where i just found this site yesterday so im kinda new

Search for class of 2010 official acceptance thread.

ok thanks a bunch

My S is a freshman at USC in engineering. His main EC was Boy Scouts (he was an Eagle). He also did a few school ECs. His weighted GPA was about a 3.6 & he was a NMF (very high test scores). I agree that it's helpful to look at official acceptance threads. Your HS counselor also can often give you a pretty accurate gauge of your chances, especially if your HS sends a lot of kids to USC (like our kids' HS does).

i would do that but i live in canada and up here maybe 3 out of the 200 graduating kids decide to go to the US every year

I'd suspect that your test scores (SATI & SATII & any APs) might be more important if USC isn't familiar with your school than grades. For schools that send a lot of kids to USC every year, USC gets a better idea of the caliber of the school. An advantage for you is that you would add to the diversity of the school and USC does have a pretty large international community.

In any case, I'd suggest you do your best & give it a shot. Did you want to post your relevant info & have folks give you a "guess" as to what your chances might be? What year in HS are you currently?

ok well USC might find my school a little unique since you work at your own pace and its a very difficult school to get into, you teach the work to yourself kinda with books so its a fairly hard school

my grade 10 marks slipped a bit this year in science and math but next year they should be up in the 90s again :)

english: 92
socials: 90
math: 82
science: 86
planning: 94
PE: 94
Art: 94
Spanish: 95

my ec's i think should be fairly unique:

i work as an apprentice for the head doctor in my town

played gold soccer level for 10 years

played senior boys volleyball

starting an organization sending less priveledged kids to disneyland

go every two years to do missions trip to mexico

active person in my church

1000 volunteer hours

Camp counselar working for at a christian camp

been acting since i was 4, did about 35 commercials 3 movies

any thoughts?

Sounds like you have a lot to offer & would have a lot of options. I'd suggest that you consider applying to several schools that interest you and have your HS counselor write a bit to explain how your school works. You can also include some info about it in your app.
As I mentioned, doing well on SATI & SATII would be very helpful, so they get a feel for the academic rigor of your school.

Colleges look at your HS record overall and also look to see if there are trends -- upward or downward. My S had several Cs on his transcript, as he had a LOT health challenges thru HS with all the most difficult classes at his very competitive HS. USC didn't seem to hold it against him that he got those Cs because the test scores showed that he had learned the material well. He's doing very well in engineering this freshman year at USC.

haha how much do u think my science and math marks should go up to get consideration into pre-med, this year was just an off year for those 2 subjects
