Re-taking SATs / ACT

Hey guys !
I've taken the SAT 3 times and my superscore is 2090 (M-790,CR-620,W-680)
I'm really confused, if i should attempt it a 4th time or not ...
My first two attempts were pretty much useless (didn't prepare)
So if i attempt it a 4th time, I'm pretty sure i can improve ...

So is it worth it trying again ?
Or should i try the ACT ?

I have very good EC's decent grades and SAT 2 is great ...

Im looking at schools like: GaTech, Umich, UT Austin, Purdue, UIUC, Texas A&M.

Only if you actually plan to prepare. The only schools that I believe should be reaches on your list (best off of SAT scores alone) would GaTech and Umich. I don’t know anything else about your application, but if you are going to take it again, take it seriously and treat it as your last time, as there is likely only going to be small increments of improvements if you have already taken it 3 times already.

If you want; however, a 2090 is a very high score. I’m not saying you won’t improve, but it may not be appreciable enough. You would have to prepare much more to improve at that high range.

For the ACT, idk. The act is a different test, and you your equiv score may be lower because you aren’t used to the test.

hmm okay… but say i do improve by a lot, will colleges look down upon the score because i took it 4 times ? @ninjex @shawnspencer‌

You don’t have to send all your scores. You can “score choice” and only send ones that will factor into a higher superscore. But again only do it if you can dedicate the time and seriously improve, otherwise it won’t make a serious impact on your application.

Try the ACT. The tests are different, and you might be better suited for one and not the other.

It is hard to bring up your CR score (much easier to raise your math score). Odds are that even with prep, it won’t go up a lot (some, but not like your math score). That said, it is low for some of the college on your list – Michigan and UT Austin, for example, probably wouldn’t let you in with 620 CR even if you were in-state. Unless you have a hook you have not mentioned. You could try the ACT.

i have always done well on maths
my three scores were
M - 790, 780, 780
W - 600, 620, 680
CR - 580, 570, 620

before my third attempt i was scoring much better on CR in practice tests, i don’t know why i got 620 …

i think i should try out the ACT …
Ill prepare well for it !

Research has shown that students taking the SAT more than three times do not get better results in subsequent sittings. So, I would give the ACT a try.
