Y’all. I sent in a clarification fax and notified my regional admissions officer via email about it 11 days ago, but she is not responding to the email. Does this signal rejection? help I’m in a purgatory.

I applied to Stanford on a whim and I would appreciate if you all didn’t laugh hysterically when I tell you my information…I only have a 4.0 weighted and my SATs are just short of the 2000s. The only reason I’m even applying is because a friend last year had similar/even less impressive scores and grades and got in. We’re both passionate in the arts and mixed race, please be honest, do I stand ANY chance?

I suppose it depends on whether or not you conveyed your passion successfully in your application? If you were completely devoted to your passion and/or were just incredibly talented, it could catch their eye.

I’m trying very hard not to think about the upcoming date. Honestly, I’m psyching myself up for rejection right now because I know that if I don’t, I’ll become overly optimistic and feel utterly crushed if (coughwhencough) I get rejected. At least if I anticipate it, it’ll hurt less? That’swhatItellmyself.

If there’s some miracle and I get accepted, you’ll hear my screams from across the country.

@Absoluteness, even I’d like to know about that. I don’t think they send confirmations for any non-essential material you send them.

@aviraldg regardless of whether or not the applicant was admitted?

Yep. While I didn’t exactly ask about this, but I did call up their admissions office about the International Student Certification of Finances (optional), and they said “if you’ve faxed it, we’ve read it.” If it contains some important information, you might want to call them and confirm, though.

Also, I’m pretty sure the actual process of admitting students is completely decoupled from accepting their credentials.

Haha yeah…what I’m worried is that the fact that the officer didn’t respond foreshadows a non-favorable decision. But it probably is that she is just too busy to concern emails.

Hey you guys, over/under 5% chance that an applicant who refers to Stanford as the “Cardinals” gets accepted?

@HinduPowers

That’s a pretty awful question. I don’t think it should impact your chances of admission.

Does anyone else wish there was more activity on this thread because they check it every day out of anxiety/anxiousness/excitement for Dec 15… Or am I the only one?

Hello…
New user here. Strange that there are so much less than last year. I highly doubt the number of applicants has gone down at all. Only reason I only joined now was because I’ve been trying to push out any idea of any acceptance to soften the blow.
The fact that it’s December really just slapped me in the face today and I thought, damn this is the month I find out.

Last year they had hundreds of pages on the thread. This year we might only have about 30. I wonder what happened.

Well, most of the posts last year came around the date when decisions were supposed to be released, so I expect the post count will increase as December 13th comes around, and then definitely explode when results are officially released.

A friend informed me that Columbia released a date and time for their decisions (the 12th at 5 pm). Hopefully Stanford releases their official date soon too.

My best guess is that it’s T-minus 10 days until decisions. The suspense is killing me…

When do you think the results will be emailed!? The website says the 15th, but I think they always release them on a Friday? Who’s guessing the 13th?

@imspecial I feel the same way too! I check this forum all the time to see whats going on I’m sooooooooooo nervous about results!

I think it will be the 13th as well, last year it was released the Friday before the 15th, so December 14th 2012.

Probably at 3 PM Central Time!

What makes you think 3 central? Was that the time they started last year? I’ve heard they start emailing results and it takes a few hours for everybody to receive their email, but I’m not sure if that’s true.
