@aegise fellow asians unit! (even though uniting isnt gonna help much lolol)
sux being asian in college apps… we get the majority of the stereotypes and most think top schools have quotas on us haha. and florida? nice nice. been there several times, a very very nice state ;)

I’m the only applicant from my school in the EA round, but I think two friends of mine are applying RD. I love them dearly, but they have zero chance at being admitted and they know it. An applicant from my HS has not been accepted in ~10 years, and there is only one green dot on the Naviance scattergram.

I come from a pretty academically competitive public high school and in the past 3 years, only one person out of 80 applicants has made it into Stanford. Here’s hoping I make it 2.

matrixsurgeon: Lul, I’m pretty sure increasing our Asianness by uniting would only decrease our chances. Everyone at my school who applied is Asian except for one, and that one knows she won’t get in but decided to apply anyway for the heck of it. And then there’s my other friend who is half Hispanic, half AA, and enjoys sitting back and watching all of the Asians freak out.

I don’t know if anyone from past years got into Stanford. Last year was a definitive no, but any earlier than that and I wasn’t really paying attention to the seniors.

loooool Aegise!

but yea my school has NEVER had an applicant to Stanford University before…I’m the first exposure to the university, and several others are doing RD in my class. my class is basically one of the firsts to really go overboard with applying to crazy private great schools. usually my school feeds to the area rather than outwards, time zones away haha. im hoping to be the school’s first acceptance into stanford as well as the first top 6 school acceptance…

We’ve had a couple get in from our school last year (who were the only ones in the last few years) and they ended up matriculating to Harvard.

Where are all my Californians at?!

My school is competitive when it comes to colleges, especially this year. I think our IB senior class is 110 something students? Within that, at least a quarter have applied early to Stanford, Brown, MIT, Harvard, Yale, and I’m pretty sure there was someone who did Princeton. Dunno if any will get accepted, but there’s bound to be at least one in there.

I mean, it’s great when you need to find someone to panic with, but it’s one of those schools where you go from being the smartest person in your middle school to below average compared to some new genius classmates. One said genius is applying to Stanford, and I’m pretty sure she’ll get in.

@imspecial hi

my school is pretty much the same as any top cali public school - berkeley/UCLA feeder, with a select 5% going to hypsm

80 applied last year, 4 people got in and went. i think the most we’ve had in the last 3 years was 5 or something

Geez, y’all have crazy schools. I live in a small town in Texas, so you can imagine the lack of great schools here. I go to the best school in the area, where the average ACT is 18 and only 5 seniors out of 400 are applying to any top schools at all. Me Stanford, the others Harvard, Vandy, UChicago, and MIT. I’m not really sure if my school’s uncompetitive nature is a good or bad thing in the admission process, lol.

@Aegise @matrixsurgeon Where do you guys do Dual enrollment at? I do it at uchicago and think its pretty awesome but unlike you two I am not in an IB program! I feel like thats way too much. 3 AP’s and a college course is enough (X_X)

@Brogrammer17
I didn’t see your post earlier but I got accepted to my safety of Grinnell already!

Ahhhh. 10 days left. How are you all dealing with the pressure?

Whooo California! We have a lot of applicants to Stanford every year, and we always get around 4-5 people who get in. But then again, my graduating class is 900+ so, yeah.

I’m feeling anxious about results, but I’m excited to see them nonetheless.

@killbeefgoham
first of all, love childish gambino.
Secondly! I believe its a GREAT thing, its all about going the next level and showing initiative! plus, if your school is that uncompetitive your classmates will inflate your grades and make you look like an even stronger candidate. However, to a school like Stanford, they have a bunch of smart kids, its all about being balanced and interesting I believe.

it is terrible i can’t sleep I just want to know!!!

Bluetyphoon: Mine is a local community college (one that we mock endlessly actually because it’s so bad), but the class itself is at my high school and the college is just stuck on the name so we can get credit.

Ooh, I forgot all about AP. No idea if they do this at other schools, but my school incorporates AP into the IB schedule so like last year and sophomore year, our history/english classes were AP (but at the same time, they were still IB and idek how that works). And this year it’s a pure IB schedule, but they make us take AP exams for every single class that we take. And those exams are during the exact same weeks as IB exams. Ughhhh. Well, this explains why I haven’t had any sleep for the past 4 years.

Do you think if I called Stanford and ranted about how much sleep I’ve sacrificed for them, they’ll take pity on me and send an acceptance letter? In fact, let’s all do that, I’m sure you guys have had just as little sleep.

lol “dealing” with pressure that’s a good one

phosphorylation: That statistic is very terrifying.

If y’all have any Stanford clothes, make sure you find them, wash them, and give them a few good wears before the 15th. If we end up getting rejected, this hopeful, fleeting period of applicatus interregnum is the last time we can wear a Stanford shirt without feeling pain or regret.

I wish I could cryogenically freeze my self until next week.

@killbeefgoham

That’s how my school is too! Out of 500+ students in my class, I can think of 4 people including myself who have applied early to any prestigious schools. I did Stanford, a friend of mine did Yale through questbridge, another UChicago, and another kid applied to Harvard. I’m just happy that I won’t be compared against anybody from my school.

Although there is one girl who has been telling people that she was accepted to Stanford and given a full-ride scholarship since the second week of school this year. Allegedly, she took “an admissions test administered by Stanford.” I remain skeptical hahahaha

@Aegise
Ah! at least you get the credit !
Well we don’t have the IB program and the AP’s are regular AP’s but one thing i find funny is that there are no regular classes! I’ve had Honors gym hahahah.
I think they’d laugh and say join the club. I doubt it will get any easier !

Usually ppl who think they r getting in don’t get in. Also what funny stuff did you guys put in your app. what were your 5 words? And for those short answers it was okay just to list stuff right.
