Ahhh that gives me some peace of mind!
My application submitted box says 11/4/13 11:10:10 PM (i think this is EST)
My payment submitted box says 11/4/13 8:05 PM (I think this is PST)
when I click on the receipt thing next to the payment submitted box it says:
Date/time application submitted 11/5/13 4:10:10 AM (I think this is UTC)
and Date/time payment submitted 11/4/13…
WHY the heck can’t they just PICK a timezone…why must they use every time zone possible!?

Sure. I don’t think it should be a problem. I’d called yesterday, and was told that “as long as the CommonApp lets you submit, and you do, you should be fine.”

It took me half a day to fill the pre-application worksheet. I guess I can submit the CSS profile today. Collegeboard said it normally takes 1 day to submit to school, but one should do that one week before deadline to be sure. I hope it will go through smoothly.

I’m a little bit confused on the nature of CSS. Is it only for students who know they need financial aid? Or should we all submit it if we want financial aid?

The CSS profile is something you must submit if you want financial aid from Stanford; it’s basically a financial aid application.

Considering Stanford’s extremely generous need-based aid, though, I think it’s well worth filling it out for almost every applicant’s family; my family wouldn’t get any need-based aid from most other institutions but the HYPS schools would give us some.

I just submitted CSS to Stanford for now as other schools are not due until 2/15. There is a $9 fee for registration and $16 per school. I am not sure if the $9 fee will be charged again if I update the profile before submitting to other schools.

^ Just consider that as part of the application fee. It is a waste of money for any school that one got rejected anyway. My D may even need to apply for dorm by the end of this month with a processing fee at another school where most applicants have not even received the acceptance notice.
