REA Class of 2018 Applicants' Discussion Thread

@Etshine, see: https://appsupport.commonapp.org/ics/support/kbanswer.asp?deptID=33013&task=knowledge&questionID=1629</a></p>

Still, will confirm with Stanford tomorrow.

Ahhh that gives me some peace of mind!
My application submitted box says 11/4/13 11:10:10 PM (i think this is EST)
My payment submitted box says 11/4/13 8:05 PM (I think this is PST)
when I click on the receipt thing next to the payment submitted box it says:
Date/time application submitted 11/5/13 4:10:10 AM (I think this is UTC)
and Date/time payment submitted 11/4/13…
WHY the heck can’t they just PICK a timezone…why must they use every time zone possible!?

Aviraldg please msg me or post on here what they say! Do you think I should call them also to confirm?

Sure. I don’t think it should be a problem. I’d called yesterday, and was told that “as long as the CommonApp lets you submit, and you do, you should be fine.”

@Etshine, confirmed with them. It’s okay.

alright thanks, avirldg! Guess it doesn’t really matter anyways though since I’m just gunna get rejected… haha.

Anyone submitted the CSS profile already? It is due by 11/15.

Did anyone get any notice yet regarding their early action to Stanford?

billcsho, I submitted my CSS profile a week or two ago. I don’t think Stanford sends out any separate confirmation of having received it.

The CSS profile is only required if you’re applying for financial aid, right?

It took me half a day to fill the pre-application worksheet. I guess I can submit the CSS profile today. Collegeboard said it normally takes 1 day to submit to school, but one should do that one week before deadline to be sure. I hope it will go through smoothly.

I’m a little bit confused on the nature of CSS. Is it only for students who know they need financial aid? Or should we all submit it if we want financial aid?

The CSS profile is something you must submit if you want financial aid from Stanford; it’s basically a financial aid application.

Considering Stanford’s extremely generous need-based aid, though, I think it’s well worth filling it out for almost every applicant’s family; my family wouldn’t get any need-based aid from most other institutions but the HYPS schools would give us some.

Do you think it would be possible to get any aid if parents (totaled) income is 600kish and 2 kids are in college at the same time?

Sorry for the stupid question, but do we have to fill out all the colleges we would use css for in one go? Or can we just do Stanford now?

I think we can do just Stanford now. I sent in only Stanford.

I just submitted CSS to Stanford for now as other schools are not due until 2/15. There is a $9 fee for registration and $16 per school. I am not sure if the $9 fee will be charged again if I update the profile before submitting to other schools.

After I submitted the CSS profile, I noticed it said the financial aid notice for EA will be announced by 12/15.

ugh its so dumb to be forced to pay to send the css thing if you get rejected they just ignore it… so why waste money? -_-

^ Just consider that as part of the application fee. It is a waste of money for any school that one got rejected anyway. My D may even need to apply for dorm by the end of this month with a processing fee at another school where most applicants have not even received the acceptance notice.
