Ok, I know that there are a lot of posts about this, but I want to outline my situation. I took the SAT in June and scored a 620 in the Verbal section. For my initial PSAT I scored a measly 49, but simply familiarizing myself with the SAT brought my score to this level. Basically, over the summer I've been reading some books to help with CR. I've also been doing practice sections and learning vocab using Direct Hits, but I just want to focus on the reading books part.

I've bought some books by Kaplan (Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde, The War of the Worlds, Wuthering Heights, The Scarlet Letter) that contain a lot of SAT vocab words underlined and defined on the adjacent page. Has anyone tried these Classical Books published with definitions of SAT vocabulary, and do you find that it helps? I'm also going over the sparknotes guides and analyses for these books as I read them to give myself a more critical perspective. Again, has anyone tried this and do you find it effective? What else can I do as I read these books that might help me with the CR section of the SAT?

Thanks

EDIT: Sorry for the typo in the title.
