I have been using a little of PR Kaplan and the Official cb guide.. but ive heard that i should be avoiding the kaplan book for its lack of authencity. I have a long way to go to reach the score that i want so i really want to know which books i should use to study with.. also for vocabulary, i am currently using word smart and all these other vocab lists. but are they helpful? i am doing poorly on the sentence completion because of the vocabulary. which vocab lists should i be using?

I used Kaplan, and I didn't do well. I had CB, but Kaplan had more "shortcuts." Don't take shortcuts, it's easier to know the answer than to deduce it.

Use CB guide. Kaplan's questions are usually way more difficult or much easier than SAT questions.

I didn't study any vocabulary. I read alot. If you have time (You have over 10 weeks till the SAT in October) read your AP English books. The classics.

What I read leading up to the SAT:
A Confederacy of Dunces
Wuthering Heights (I laughed more than I cried. I mean, the guy's name is Heathcliff, like the cat.)
World on Fire
A Clockwork Orange
Crime and Punishment

The first two will help your vocabulary. The last two won't do much. Whenever you see a word, look it up. Keep a dictionary by your bed, or couch, or wherever you like to read.

I missed one on the CR. I didn't start actually reading books until the summer of 10th grade, because I actually liked the Crucible after 10 pages. The books assigned by schools are usually boring and monotonous. There are, of course, exceptions, but you should try some other reading lists.

If you want to improve CR, read. Vocab lists won't teach you how the word is used. I think Sparknotes makes books with large amounts of vocab in them, and although I have no experience with them, it sounds fantastic in theory.

vocab boost-i recommend word smart I. then if u finish those 800 words, do word smart II, but it's boring and taking alot of time,so i dont think u would like that lol...
rather spend time on others =p

these are good suggestions

anyone????????
