Ready to Apply

Surprisingly, today I received in the mail the application for the congressional nomination. I was surprised with it coming so early in the “spring”, but I sure am excited to get it filled in and sent in. I hope everybody else gets their applications soon. I’ve been waiting for this for three years now, and now I can finally say I’ve taken my First Step to 2012!!!

Good luck, and that really is early.

I got my congressional app like in august.

2012? Huh???

makes you and the other 2010s feel old, right?

yes, yes it does. Hard to believe in only a bit over 100 days we will be 3 degrees and training the new 4 digs. Crazy thought.

"recieved" the congressional application? i thought you could just send one in off of the format on one of the usafa websites. how do you request an application?

Send in a letter.

Use the format used on the website.

Put in some stats not all, then they will send you an application.

I actually contacted them in the summer I think, and when I talked to the nomination coordinator she said that she would put my name on a list and said that I would get an application as soon as they started sending them out. I really only sent her a letter saying how I wanted to go to the academy and be able to get into contact with the office and maybe go see it. I think the letter they have in the catalog is just a general format to ask for an application.

hornetguy, what exactly will your training responsibilities for the class of 2011 ential?

Probably train.. the girls

Yeah. Train the girls. Make 'em cry. All that good stuff. ;)

But to give you a serious answer, 2010 will be the "coaches" for 2011. We will be the ones checking on 2011 to make sure they know their knowledge, inspect their rooms, be there for training sessions, etc. Most will be fairly encouraging, though, since we've just gone through it ourselves. There will be exceptions. though. Some will not give you as much respect as you deserve. Just be careful, and watch for leadership examples you want to follow when it's your turn.

If you are lucky enough to get me, you will have fun! lol

Yay guys wanna learn karate movesss

Haha, I don't even have tear ducts, so you don't have to worry about making me cry. :) HOO-AH!

Are you guys still getting SAMIs, and if so, who usually...um..."administers" them? ;)

Seniors almost always administer SAMIs. And they aren't usually "administered" in a bad way (you know what I mean) except in BCT and in Recognition. Otherwise, they are very fair.

I can't wait till you guys come. And I don't mean that in a bad way...I'm not one of those guys who just can't wait to train and yell cause they were scarred as a freshman...so no worries. :P

SAMI – a Saturday morning (a.m.) inspection

In case someone doesn't know.

Saturday Additional Morning Inspections. Your room has to be in perfect order down to some of the smallest details...almost impossible to pass in BCT, only a decent challenge during the regular year, and a fiasco during Recognition. (Aka SLAMI). :P
