Damn, so here I am feeling good about completing my whole academy application for early decision, and I get ANOTHER huge packet in the mail from my congressman. This one is even worse then the AFA one. Grrr…did they even listen to what I wrote in my letter requesting a nomination, I put a lot of info about myself there. Why can’t they just take the academy’s word for it whether I’m qualified or not, this is an insane amount of work. 3 more full letters of recommendation from at least one school official, 2 more pages of hand-written essay responses, another official transcript and SAT score report, more extracurricular documentation, etc…

Is the advertised 13% rate of acceptance really applicable here? I can’t imagine that, out of all the people going through the pain of completing the tremendous amount of work required for everything about the entire application, only 13% get in at this point.

I am going to have trouble not beating the crap out of the next one of my peers who says “Wow college applications are so easy! It hardly took a couple of hours completing the whole online application!”

Why didn't you get the stuff earlier? I've had mine for over a month now. If your's are anything like mine, are the due dates in like two weeks? If that's the case, that's a lot of strain on teachers/counselors and such as well for their stuff.

Wow, it is kinda late to be starting on some nominations. One of my nominations (IL-D Obama) is due this friday. I have all the stuff but am waiting on a teacher to finish an eval form!! GAH!!

While one is also due december 2nd, that one i have completed (they actually contacted me about re-nomination...sweet).

13% get in? Wow, i think even that is a generous number. I thought it was around 10 or 11%. All this work? It IS alot of work. I tell people it is like applying to 4 colleges. Each MOC and the actual academy itself. Each of the for have evaluation forms, resume's, essays and forms to fill out and above all - deadlines.

My nominations here were A LOT worse than the AFA application. The way I see it though, If your not willing to put in the work to get in why should they select you?

That's kindof late on congressional nominations too. All my app's here were due about a month ago.

Wow, that is early. Unfortunatly the one im mostly likely going to get my nomination is the latest, december 2nd, with a senator on november 11th and another senator october 14th.
