I posted a thread awhile ago about needing a laptop and had a few recommendations but after researching, finding a little bit more about my new major(MIS), and being ready to buy in a few weeks I just want some opinions on my two choices.

First off at least this semester all I have to use is Access and Microsoft Movie Maker, which both don't seem to demanding. The department said any modern day laptop should be good enough as long as I am comfortable with it.

Both of my current choices have a i5 7.GHz CPU. The only differnces are in the RAM and SSD/HD

So without further ado here are my two choices:

Pros: 500GB HD, I can up the RAM to like 16 though I only expect to go to 6 if goes this option

Cons: No SSD

Price: 978

So what it comes down to is is the extra $100 worth loosing ram, built in HD space, and ram? But gaining SSD?

Any info, thoughts, or comments from owners of either machines would be helpful

EDIT: Forgot to mention this is a Secondary Machine so I can get work done on campus or if I need to leave the house to study or what not. I have a great desktop at home off campus. I also do have an iPad but writing or doing web work or basically any homework on that is to cumbersome and is basically used as a e reader now.

Also would not mind getting some more of the forbidden kool aid so to speak(ie an entry lvl mac book pro). But kinda pricey after installing parallels and new windows licence.
The reason I kinda would like to try apple is I hear the last awhile.

The thing that worries me on this is again the Ram is only 4gb or I can upgrade 8gb not sure if I could afford that. But at least I can upgrade at a later date?

But keep in mind this has a 768p display…some other ultabooks have 900p display and you might have storage problems with only 128GB SSD…So buy an external hard drive

Yeah I am fine with the display does not bug me. I already have an older 320gb portable drive, which should suite my needs ,and if not a 1tb is cheap enough to pick up.

…and of course I got a warranty, I would be very stupid not too, especially on a laptop.
